Necessity

Floor lighting will

guide paths for
people and also
will light up qutie
a lot of the
cinemas. Also I
am using Wall
lighting to make
sure people can
see when walking
into the cinema
and also so we
can make it dark
once film starts.

Task

I am using celing
lighting on the
classrooms
because we have
also have
windows which
bring in plenty of
light when bright
out side so I
would use
daylight sensors
on the lights
closest to the
windows to make
sure they dimmer
if no light is
needed, this will
be efficient and
also a lot more
sustainable.

Criteria:
2.2.3 use quantitative methods to
establish the energy
requirements, and a lighting
strategy
2.4.6 take account of
environmental considerations in
planning
1.3.6 explain how the building
design helps minimise energy
use.
2.3.5 relate building design
specification to energy efficiency

Lighting Regulations
Lighting Report (Use the questions at the bottom right as prompts)
The main type of lighting I will be using in my building will be LEDs because they use at

least 75 percent less energy than incandescents and also long life, low maintenance. This means I
will not have to pay for them as often as other lighting. But many other rooms including:
classrooms, entrance of building and Chill Room will have all natural light sources which means I
won't have to pay at all for the lighting inside of them rooms unless we/some else using the
building outside of hours.
I will measure building brightness with professionals and get everything checked out the way it
should to make sure i have enough light for it to be safe in my building. Some of these include:
daylight autonomy, Luminous Flux and Intensity Measurements.
My building will be lit up between 7:30am through 6pm. This includes most of the rooms inside.
Except from the cinema they will be used throughout the evening until around 10-11pm.
All my choices affect my building maintenance cost because things like LED lighting will make
things so much cheaper in the long run which means I will not be worrying if things like toilets
break because I will have the money to fix them. I also use mostly solar energy for my building
which means I will also no longer will have the trouble of paying out thousands of pounds on just
lighting.

As i said in my previous paragraph I have said that I will use mostly solar panels which comply
with Part L Building Regulations.
The feel and the look of the building looks really nice with the lights i have chosen and comply
really well with the theme and style of the building. With the lights I chose when you walk in you
won't be blinded by bright big lights you will feel chilled and relaxed and ready to view pupils
work!
