5) How did you attract/address your target audience?

We set up a questionnaire on survey monkey so that our target audience could fill in
what they thought of our opening title sequence. The questions varied ranging from;
how would you classify the genre of the film, what age group do you think this film
would appeal to, do you think it is an effective opening title sequence, would you go
and see this film in the cinema etc. This allowed us to see whether or not our
opening title sequence was suitable for our chosen target audience as they were
able to give us feedback about our opening title sequence which also allowed us to
see whether or not they would like it and consider watching the film.
We managed to attract our target audience by using characters that are a similar age
to them. This is because we felt as though our target audience will be more likely to
relate and watch the film if the characters are of a similar age.
The following below is the feedback that we got from the survey. The survey was
taken by 16 different people who are aged 15-25 years old.

This shows that 87.5% which

is the majority of the people
who took the survey, would
classify this film as a Thriller
based on the opening title
sequence whereas 12.5% of
people thought that it would
classify as a Drama.

This shows that 68.8% of

people who took the survey,
feel that this film would be
appropriate for individuals
aged 15+ and the other 31.3%
feel that this film would appeal
to individuals aged 12+. This
is good that over half of the
people who took the survey
felt that it would be
appropriate for individuals
aged 15+ due to the fact that
our target audience is for
individuals over 15.

This shows that 25% of the

people thought that the boy
was a victim in this sequence
whereas 75% of people just
thought that he was the main
character in the film. Both of
these answers are correct due
to the fact that the boy that is
shown in the opening title
sequence is the main
character within the film and
he is also the victim due to the
fact that it is not his fault that
he was unlucky to have a bad
and unfortunate childhood.

This shows that 87.5% of

people thought that the music
within the opening title
sequence was effective
whereas 12.5% of the people
thought that the music was a
little bit effective. However, no
one said that the music was
not effective when conveying
the thriller genre and
therefore, this is a positive
impact for us as we know that
we chose the right type of
music for our opening title
sequence.

This shows that 100% of the

people that took the survey
found this opening title
sequence effective. This
shows us that the opening title
sequence that we made was
very successful as all of the
people who took the survey
found it effective and all of the
people who took it were our
target audience.

This shows that 87.5% of

people would go and see this
film in the cinema. This is a
positive aspect due to the fact
that this is the majority of the
people who took the survey
and therefore 87.5% of people
found this opening title
sequence effectively. 6.3% of
people said that they would
not go and see this film in the
cinema and 6.3% of people
said that they might go and
watch this film in the cinema.

This shows that 56.3% of the

people that took the survey,
which is more than half the
people usually watch thriller
films. This is a positive note
for us due to the fact that our
film is a thriller. This shows
that our target audience
usually watch thriller films and
therefore our opening title
sequence is more likely to be
successful to them. This also
shows that 25% of the people
who answered the survey
usually go to the cinema to
watch action films, 12.5% of
people watch comedy films
and 6.3% of people watch
drama films.

Overall I feel that our film did appeal to our target audience due to the fact that we
made sure that we tried to make it as interesting and intriguing for our target
audience to view. This survey also proves that our target audience felt as though our
opening title sequence was successful and adhered to the thriller genre.
