Quintin Boyce, Principal

Camelback High School
4612 N. 28th Street
Phoenix, AZ 85016

Dear Dr. Boyce:

Please consider me for the English teacher position at Camelback High School. I firmly believe
that my education, life experiences, as well as professional experiences at Camelback make me a
knowledgeable and qualified candidate.
I believe students learn best in an accepting environment in which their ideas are allowed to
flourish. In providing a welcoming atmosphere I create rules and procedures, cultivate respect
among individuals, and model outstanding citizenship. In addition to creating a good
environment, learning must be reinforced and sustained; therefore, I frequently use supplemental
material in support of the curriculum to allow for broader perspectives and various assessment
strategies developed to monitor student progress.
As an intern and student teacher at Camelback High School, I became familiar with its faculty,
staff, culture, and expectations. During my time at Camelback I was treated to students of all
grades, abilities, and personalities. I have also been in both the traditional classroom setting for
general education and honors students as well as a virtual classroom for struggling and special
circumstance students. A recent graduate of Arizona State University, I will bring a new and
fresh approach to teaching tomorrows generation.
I would like to schedule an appoint with you at your earliest convenience to learn more about
your vision for Camelback High school and to better discuss my qualifications. I may be reached
at 623.670.8624 or clhaynes@asu.edu.
Thank you for your time and consideration; I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Sincerely,
Christopher Haynes

Dear Parent or Guardian,
Your son Rob is a pleasure to have in my class. Not only is he polite and courteous to his
classmates, Rob is a natural leader and born speaker. His willingness to assist others makes him
an integral part of social circles.
While attending every other class in the past week, Rob has missed English three times.
Additionally, since beginning a new unit on George Orwell, Rob has become withdrawn from
class. School policy is to place students on an academic contract after five unexcused absences.
If he continues to miss class, he runs the risk of a contract and the loss of school activities.
After approaching Rob privately, he expressed his frustration with his difficulty in understanding
the novel. We discussed a few ideas to remedy this situation, such as keeping a journal, talking
with me during lunch, and discussing sections of the novel it with a family member or friend.
Together, these three suggestions should help Rob understand the story and thus, regular
attendance.
Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, or if you would like a copy of the novel
to read with Rob, please do not hesitate to call me at 623.670.8624, email me at
clhaynes@asu.edu, or schedule an appointment.
Sincerely,
Mr. Haynes
