Kindergarten

Students will be able to identify the front cover, back cover, and
the title of a book. They will also successfully create their own
mini about me book.

The book: If You Give A Mouse A Cookie
Materials for creating their own about me book.
Kahoot: Name that part.
Parts of the book worksheet.
Word Search
Book for each student.
Microphone for teacher
When students enter the class they will be instructed to choose a
book from the book shelf. They will then sit on the carpet with
their book in hand. They will be asked to name the parts of the
book they are familiar with.
Day One :
1st- Choose a book and as a class name parts of the book they
are familiar with.
2nd- Read them If You Give A Mouse A Cookie. ( use the
microphone to meet all the childrens needs)
3rd- Explain the parts of a book. The title, front cover, back
cover and spine. ( Explain to the class why each part is
important & where each part can be found)
4th- Have students work with a partner to complete Parts of the
book worksheet.
Day Two:
1st Kahoot Name that part
2nd Have students create an About Me Book
3rd- Kids that finish early have the option to complete a word
search.

Please note: Consideration of technology use can be made at all stages of the planning
process. The teacher AND the students must use the technology! You must highlight
where/when you are using technology with red or green font.

With a partner students will work together to complete parts of


the book worksheet.
Students will work independently and create an about me book
with a book title, author, illustrator, front cover and back cover.
Along with the title page and the spine of the book.
Hearing Impaired- We will use a microphone to help children
who cannot hear well.
Gifted- We will give a fun worksheet to do in case children
finish their work quicker than their peers.
ESOL- In our Kahoot we also used Spanish words to help
children whose first language might me Spanish.
