Artificial

Intelligence

How is Artificial Intelligence

Defined?

A science
dealing with
giving
machines the
ability to seem
as if they have
human
intelligence

This, however,
does not
necessarily
mean
simulating
human
behaviors.

Intelligence

is defined
as having
the ability
to learn,
reason, and
understand.

Humans are
the only
species to
be
considered
truly
intelligent
thus far

Alright..
.

When and How did Artificial

Intelligence Research Begin?

It began sometime
after WWII. It is
believed that a man
named Alan Turing
was the first to
really dive into the
subject. He is
considered the
father of Computer
Science and
Artificial
Intelligence
Research.

Turing continued to have a heavy influence

on A.I. research. By the 1950s Artificial
Intelligence was a major, yet controversial
field of study.

Turing died in 1954 at the age of 42. It

is widely believed that he was
murdered

Thats sad but...

What Goes Into A.I. Research?

There are two

main types of
Research for
Artificial
Intelligence:
Biological and
Phenomenal

Biological
research
focuses on
the
psychological
and
physiological
aspects of
life

This type of research

is based off of the
idea that humans are
intelligent beings
with complex thought
processes. Humans
thinking patterns and
emotions are studied
in great detail for
this.

The
Phenomenal
research in this
case is referring
to the ability to
use logic and
learn from
experience

Phenomenal Research
has to do with:
Using common
sense
Setting and
achieving goals
and
Learning from past
mistakes
This type of study
deals mainly with
coding and how to
imitate learning

Ok but...

What are Some Uses for Artificial

Intelligence?

Gameplay

Games such
as:
Sims
Simcity
Online
Chess
Halo
F.E.A.R.
And many
others all have
varying
amounts of
Artificial
Intelligence.

Deep Blue
is one of the
most famous
examples

Speech Recognition.
The ability to
recognize when
something is
speaking to you and
to understand what
it is trying to say is
a highly intelligent
action (Not even all
humans have gotten
this down yet)

Computer Vision,
or the ability for a
machine to find
and recognize 3D
objects without
prompting,
requires artificial
intelligence.

So...

Does that mean Siri is an A.I.?

Siri, Alexi, Cortana

and other similar
personal assistant
apps use artificial
intelligence to a
certain degree but
are not referred to
by scientist as A.I.

Apple is
working on
vearing Siri
away from
programme
d robot
towards
actual
artificial
intelligence

They hope to turn

her into a thinking
entity in the near
future

Thats
disappointing...

Whats the Most Human-Like A.I. so

Far?

There are many

human-like
Artificially
Intelligent
machines. One
of the most
notable recently
is Android Dick

Wow! So...

Will Artificial Intelligence Start

Taking Over Human Jobs?

Most
Likely.

Both Stephen
Hawking and Elon
Musk have begun
to voice their
concerns about
computers and
artificial
intelligence
possibly taking
over the
workplace.

It is believed that
soon, 75-80% of
jobs will be done
by artificial
intelligence
instead of humans.
Japan is already
producing
Robear, a nonthreatening
robotic nurse.

Well.

Should We Be Worried?

It is
believed
that in the
next decade
or two, self
driving cars
might put
professional
drivers out
of
business..

Artificial
Intelligence has
also lowered the
need for Doctors
and Lawyers,
dropping the
amount needed
to do routine
tasks in their
respective
industries by
75%

And thats just

since the
beginning of
computer systems,
not having reached
full A.I. status yet.

Despite this: Robbie Allen, CEO of Automated

Insights, believes we have nothing to worry about.

So in the end?
No one really
knows. Artificial
Intelligence is a
risky business
with great
rewards and
possibly great
consequences.
We simply just
dont know
enough to make
a call on the
safety of it.

Only Time will

tell.
