Another Day in Paradise

FADE IN.

INT. – Elaine’s Bedroom – 6:30am

A close up SHOT on a floor filled with dirty laundry, to the bed filled with dress, to the desk
with a watch that reads ‘6: 30 am’ to Elaine is facing a mirror fixing her hair.

ELAINE:

This is as good as it gon’na gets.

Elaine leaves the room and closes the door behind her.

INT. – Elaine’s Kitchen – 6:35am

Elaine looks around the empty room and stands before the door of the refrigerator, scans over the
posted notes. There’s a paper that marks ‘GEOLOGY A+’ partially covered with a note.

ELAINE:

I guess they forgot again huh? Elaine...Elaine, you never learn. Do you
really think they would give a damn about your birthday? Might as well
wish for a Angel…

Elaine detaches a note from the ref, crumples it and throws it to the floor. She then leaves the
room banging their front door behind her.

EXT. – School Entrance – 6:55am

Elaine along with many students rush towards the gate, others are busy chatting in groups while
Elaine walks warily alone.

INT. – The Lobby – 7:00

Elaine walks wearily in the half-emptied lobby. She sees her room when a male voice called her.

NORMAN:

Hey Missy!

Elaine turns to see Norman’s bald head peeping from a window behind her. She walks towards
him murmuring.

ELAINE:

(Whisper) Not now… I am so late again.

NORMAN:

Are you saying something?

ELAINE:
 Nothing sir, what is it?

NORMAN:

Would you be so kind and fetch the papers from to reproduce from the
Faculty room?

ELAINE:

(Whisper) That’s on the third floor.

NORMAN:

What is that? Were you saying something?

ELAINE:

No sir, okay I’ll get it for you.

Elaine walks briskly away from the School staff frowning.

ELAINE:

Guess I’ll be late again…

INT. – Lobby – 7:15am

Elaine is running towards her classroom.

INT. – Class Room – 7:17am

Mrs. Santos is talking while scribbling on the board. Half of the students are busy chatting but
they stare at Elaine as she tries get in tiptoeing but Mrs. Santos notice her.

MRS. SANTOS:

Well this is a surprise! You’re late again Ms Gomez!

ELAINE:

(Surprise) Ah…uhm… it’s…

MRS SANTOS;

What are you waiting for? Don’t waste anymore of our time! Sit!
