Desmos Project-Based Assignment

ANON AHUI
Math 1010
Spring 2016
Reflection:
In this assignment, we have been asked to graph many equations and interpret the
results via the calculator online site Desmos. Personally I have been amazed to
see how Mathematics could be real; how things work with Mathematics, drawing,
animations etc This assignment helped to understand better parabolas and
linear equations. When I started, I could not see the sense of what I was doing, but
when I got the point, it was so fun. I think I have better comprehension of graphing
which has been the most difficult part of Math all my life. Im happy to discover
Desmos and it is my wish to know more about it. I have too many things to with.
I will never ask myself again about the useful of Mathematics in our daily life, I
found a real example, even though we can find more than thousand today. Im
falling in love with Maths!!!

The assignment
Question #1: Change the slope, m. What happens?
The slope is revolving around the same point which implies a change in direction.
Question #2: Change the y-intercept, b. What happens?
Changing b, the y-intercept implies a shift in position along the X axis.
Question #3: What do you observe about the coordinate pairs and the graph of the linear equation?
The line passes through all the pairs graphed.
Question #4: What do you notice about these coordinate pairs in relation to the graph of the
linear equation, y = 2x 3?
The line passes through the pair (4, 5) but not the pair (-3, 0).
Question #5: What do you notice about the graph of this linear equation compared to the
previous equation?
The life of the 2x+1 is paralleled to the line 2x-3, and it doesnt pass through any pair graphed.
Question #6: What do you notice about the graph of this linear equation compared to the
previous two graphs of equations?
This line is perpendicular to the other ones.

Question #7: Which one of the coordinate pairs is a solution to the inequality? How do you know?
(5, 2) is a solution to the inequality because it appears in the shaded region (red).

Question #8: What is a point that is a solution to BOTH equations?

The point (5, 2) is a solution to both equations.
Question #9: What is a point that is NOT a solution to either equation?
(4, 2) is NOT a solution to either equation.

Question #10: What is a point that is a solution to BOTH equations?
Both points are solutions (4, 2) (5, 2).
Question #11: What is a point that is NOT a solution to either equation?
No point.
