Information to Inform Instruction

The teacher will observe and take


notes throughout the lesson on the
students comprehension of the
content. The teacher will also take
notes on their participation
throughout the lesson. The teacher
can refer to the four square drawing
and timeline for comprehension of the
content.

The teacher will take notes on her


observations of the students
participation and content knowledge.
The teacher will check the square
drawing and timeline for completion.

The teacher will learn if students are


able to understand that they are part of
different groups where they have roles
and responsibilities.

Teacher will listen while the students


are talking to a partner about their
own families. The teacher will
circulate the room listening to the
conversations amongst the students.

Teacher will use observations/questions


to evaluate students knowledge.
Teacher will also collect the students
journals to see their responses to
questions, as well as their vocabulary
sentences with corresponding
illustrations.

Teacher will learn if the students


understand the ideas that different types
of family structures exist outside of the
family structure they grew up with and
know.

throughout the lesson on the students
comprehension of the content. The
teacher will also take notes on student
participation throughout the lesson.

Teacher will use the notes taken on the

participation throughout the lesson to
see who needs additional assistance.
The teacher will also refer to the culture
worksheet to check comprehension for
correctness and completeness.

Teacher will learn if the students


understand the concept of their own
family cultures and that every family
has their own culture.

Teacher will listen and migrate


throughout the room during the
anticipatory set, group work, and the
centers. Teacher will take note of any
struggling students.

Teacher will use questioning and


observations to see who is grasping the
concepts taught at each center. The
teacher will take note of any student
who is unable to contribute to the
classroom discussions.

understand the importance of classroom
jobs, rules, and responsibilities.

notes during the anticipatory set, turn
and talks, and group work. Teacher
will read the classroom pledges.

Teacher will be checking for


comprehension when the students are
discussing. Teacher will take notes of
any student who does not understand
the significance behind the Pledge of
Allegiance. The teacher will ensure that
the students classroom pledges are
appropriate and meaningful.

Teacher will learn if the students


understand the significance of the
Pledge of Allegiance and if they are able
to create a meaningful classroom
pledge.

Teacher will collect the students


Thank You Booklets.

Teacher will be checking for


comprehension while students are
watching the YouTube video. Teacher
will take notes of any students who are
having trouble comprehending the
material.

Teacher will learn if students were able


to understand who community helpers
are and if they are able to identify their
roles in the community.

Teacher will assess students orally


based on their responses throughout
the lesson and in the closure.

Teacher will observe students while


they are in their readings groups.
Teacher will use students conversations
to evaluate their abilities to link their
books to service learning.

students are able to state and form
connections about how their leveled

room to see if students are drawing

democracy.

the students abilities and understanding
of the topic and vocabulary words.

what voting is and how it supports

centers taking notes on whether
students are understanding the
concept of culture. The teacher notes
whether students are participating and
working well with others. The teacher
uses the think-pair-share to observe
whether students grasp the concept of
diversity.

understand different aspects of culture
and how American culture is diverse.
