Daybook Reflection
Writing in the daybooks was something I didnt mind doing at all while in class. Free
writing is a good way to get your right brain working and makes for great practice. I used to have
a similar daybook I would have to write in for high school and always enjoyed leaving my
assignment up to the spontaneity of my thoughts. I use free writing as a tool if Im having trouble
thinking or if an idea doesnt make sense to me. It helps me brainstorm and develop stronger
opinions on my plan or paper. Writing in the daybook acted as somewhat of quick quiet getaway
in class. When we were timed and asked to write on certain prompts It served as a good exercise
trying to write a story within a few minutes. I felt our class could have been a lot better had more
of the students engaged in the discussions every day. Honestly, maybe the days that students
remained mute and Mrs. Knudson and I practically had a q and a helped the most considering its
almost one on one teaching. Things like that made me think and helped me develop the overall
theme of my papers and really my portfolio. Writing in class laid the foundation to my final
project way before I ever knew about it.
