What can you do with a computer science degree?

We live in a world where technology is a vital part of our everyday life. There are so
many functions of this aspect such as communication, security, entertainment, and many more.
Therefore, there is always a demand for people with computer science degrees. A computer
science degree can take you in many directions. You can do about anything you want with a
computer science degree.
Computer science (CS) spans the range from theory through programming to cuttingedge development of computing solutions. Computer science offers a foundation that permits
graduates to adapt to new technologies and new ideas. (http://computingcareers.acm.org). This
career is not only technical but it also includes a lot of imagination. While the fundamental
concepts of computer science are mathematics and coding disciplines not too often thought of
as particularly creative, there is indeed a certain amount of creative thinking and
ingenuity that is necessary to be a successful computer science major
(http://www.onedayonejob.com/majors/computer-science). One option you can do with this
degree is to devise new ways to use computers. Inventing new technologies and maybe even

create the next big thing. You do not have to limit yourself to a single section of computer
science because there is always room to grow and expand.
Choosing the field of computer science to enter will ultimately be defined by the job you
choose. From a Web Developer, Software Developer, Cyber Security, IT, and many more the
options are limitless. With the technology industry growing at the rate that it is there is a higher
demand for people in these fields. CNNMoney.com put out a poster using US Bureau of Labor
Statistics data of the Best Jobs in America. What job was at the top? Systems Engineer, making
more than the average college professor. Seven of the top "Best Jobs in America" are in
computing. Software engineering was rated 2012's Top Job as well as Americas.
(http://www.cs.arizona.edu/undergrad/why.html). Never think that there is no future in this
career because if you dont like the first thing you go into you can always switch and choose
another field inside Computer Science.
Where there is a demand there is money. Computer science majors are in the top paid
careers. Not only because of their knowledge of computers but of their innovation and
imagination to create something unbelievable. Facebook supports more than 800 million users
(yes, that's a lot of people!) sharing a billion (with a "B"!) pieces of content daily. How does it do
that? Well, Facebook uses some really neat technology including Apache Hive to handle that
volume of data. Apache Hive is free database software developed by computer scientists.(
http://www.cs.arizona.edu/undergrad/why.html). A Billion-dollar company started by a computer
science major in his dorm room. You are not limited to anything if you put your mind to it there
is room to succeed.
There is only room for advancement if you put your mind to it. Different programs
require different requirements when it comes down to education. Most computer science majors

require at least a few mathematics courses, if not higher-level advanced mathematics classes.
Computer science courses often involve proofs, mathematics and logic. (
http://www.onedayonejob.com/majors/computer-science/). When choosing a career Is always
good to consider what you will need to do to meet your goals. Depending on how much you
study, the more opportunity you will have.
As mentioned before job possibilities are becoming endless due to technology being
incorporated in almost everything. Soon there will be nothing that will not require a computer to
at least a small program to operate. We are moving into different fields and they need workers.
Soon there will be programs and software that will scan patients in hospitals to diagnose their
condition. There will be robots serving food at restaurants, and the best part is that there will be a
need of someone with a computer science degree to maintain all these things. When it comes to
the future, there are few guarantees. But youre not likely to find a career path with a more
optimistic outlook than computer science careers. With job opportunities increasing significantly
and above-average starting salaries that escalate with experience, its no wonder youre
considering this field. (http://www.rasmussen.edu/degrees/technology/blog/what-can-you-dowith-computer-science-degree/).
Have you ever thought about changing the world? Well here is your chance, dont let it
slip from your fingers. Everyday people are inventing new ways to better our world. Computer
science plays a great role in everything anyone does. Take education for example, Can you
imagine modern education without computer software or the Internet? Whether youre taking a
class online, researching for a paper or sharing work via the cloud, computer scientists have
made this possible. And now computer science is leading the way in bringing quality education
into spaces and communities that were previously underserved.

Lets not waste an opportunity to expand and improve the world we live in.
We also impact and organize society. By this I mean computer science is offering
something the human race did not have before. Making everything compact to fit in small
devises, it is easier to carry information. Writing programs that reduce the amount of work
needed to reduce costs. We are in the midst of a technological revolution. With new technologies
being discovered every day the possibilities are endless.
Computer Science is the study of principles and use of computers. However, this is only
the tip of the spear. There is so much you can do with a computer science degree because
technology is always evolving. The need for people with this knowledge keeps growing and it
might never stop. From having a secure job, inventing new technologies, making money, and
changing the world the question is not what you can do with a computer science degree but what
can you not do with a computer science degree.
