Additional Scholarship based on Academic Merit & Social Criteria
Provision is made under the Laureate Scheme for 24 Additional Scholarship
based on Academic Merit & Social Criteria comprising two categories as
follows:
24 Additional Scholarships (Meri
(i) 16 Additional Scholarships (Merit & Social criteria)
awarded to students ranked among the first 500 of the Cambridge International
Examination Scholarship Rank Orders, and whose total family income does not
exceed, in the aggregate, Rs 12,000 per month.
Science Side 6 (3 boys & 3 girls)
Economics Side 4 (2 boys & 2 girls)
Arts Side 2 (Lboy & 1 girl)
Technical Side 2 (1 boy & 1 girl)
Rodrigues (any field) 2 (1 boy & 1 girl)
(ii) 8 Additional Scholarships (Merit & Social criteria)
awarded based on the results of the Cambridge HSC and whose total family income
does not exceed, in the aggregate, Rs 6,200 per month | |
Benefits of the Additional Scholarship based_on Academic Merit & Social
Criteria
i) Option to study abroad
Those who opt to study abroad will get an annual all-inclusive grant of a
maximum of Rs 300,000 for a first degree of a maximum duration of 4 years.
However, those who choose to study abroad will not be eligible to a
postgraduate scholarship awarded by the Government of Mauritius.
ii) Option to study locally
Those who opt to study locally:
a) are entitled to an annual allowance of Rs 96,000 plus tuition fees and
related charges up to Rs 150,000 per year for a first degree of up to four
years’ duration in a recognised local tertiary education institution. Those
who choose to study Medicine or medicine-related fields in a recognised
local tertiary education institution will get an annual allowance ofRs 96,000 plus tuition fees and related charges up to Rs 150,000 per year
for a maximum of five years; and
b) become eligible for a fully funded scholarship for postgraduate studies of
one year abroad or not exceeding two years locally, except for those
having opted for Medicine or medicine-related fields.
