Slatington, PA 18080 (484) 547-5606 Slbailey293@gmail.com May 12, 2016 To whom it may concern, As a recent graduate of Kutztown University with an elementary education degree in grades 4-8 and concentrations in both mathematics and language arts at the middle level, it is with the great enthusiasm that I submit my resume in consideration for a position as a middle level (grades 4-8) teacher in at your school. I am excited to begin my teaching career with this wonderful opportunity. I believe I could be a great asset to your already high-quality team of middle level educators. During my time at Kutztown University, I was fortunate enough to have a variety of experiences that helped me grow into the teacher I am today. Part of my student teaching experience came from an urban setting with a significant percentage of ELL students who spoke little to no English. This presented me with quite a challenge. I met this challenge with a variety of strategies, adapted materials, technology, and perseverance, I was able to help these students become successful. I value the time I have spent working on two different middle school teams because I believe collaboration between teachers is a critical element to designing effective instruction and meeting the needs of all learners. I welcome the opportunity to be a part of another team at your school. In contrast to my experiences in urban middle schools, I have also had the opportunity to teach in a rural 5th grade elementary setting where I made deep, personal connections with my students and observed the major impact these connections had on their motivation, behavior, and learning. In addition to my student teaching experiences, I have volunteered as an online distance interventionist to tutor students in rural Bush Alaska which has shown me the power of technology in learning. I learned to design innovative lessons and instructional strategies that would keep my students, who were thousands of miles away, engaged. I believe todays technology has the power to provide students with more educational opportunities than ever before, and I embrace my role in helping students become 21st century learners. Spending the last year as an Instructional Support Teacher, I was able to utilize these beliefs to develop engaging, projectbased lessons to meet my students individual needs during small-group instruction. I also gained invaluable classroom management experience by working so closely with the classroom teachers and adapting their various management styles to create a unique that best suited my teaching style. I have a passion for learning, and I love to share this passion with my students. I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you to further discuss how my skills and experiences could meet the needs of your students and school. Please find enclosed a copy of my resume and recommendations/references. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Sincerely,
