Walker Upper Elementary School
Principal
Instructional leader for Walker Upper Elementary School that
serves students in fifth and sixth grades.
Superintendent asked me to move from Johnson Elementary to
Walker Upper Elementary to turn the school around. This was after
five years as Principal at Johnson Elementary where we
transformed the school from low performance to a model school for
the state.
Supervise a staff of 90 adults and 600 students.
Developed, implemented, and monitored an instructional program
for fifth and sixth grades that yielded the following first term
benchmark assessment pass rates: 90% in reading, 90% in math,
90% in science, and 90% in social studies. The superintendent
responded by saying that these scores were the highest scores
she had ever seen from Walker Upper Elementary in her 9 year
tenure as superintendent.
Was awarded over $70,000 in community donations during tenure
as principal.

Instructional leader for Johnson Elementary School that served
students in preschool through fourth grades.
Developed, implemented, and monitored an instructional program
in grades pre-kindergarten through fourth grades that yielded the

following Virginia Standards of Learning assessment pass rates:


95% in Reading, 96% in Math, 96 % in Science, and 93% in Social
Studies.
Standardized assessment scores during my tenure as principal
increased an average across all subject areas of 20%.
Was awarded over $609,000 in grants and $50,000 in community
