One thing that I learned in Maternity is how important it is to do prenatal

care. Also how important the mothers history is and how her history can
affect the fetus. I never realized this until NFDN 2004. Before NFDN
2004 I did think that Gravida and Paridy were something that is really
essential in knowing the mothers history. As well as her history of STIs.

I am rating myself as Fair because I understand the concepts in theory

and I believe I would be able to apply it in nursing scenarios. I was able
to achieve this because I study hard and come to every theory class. But
unfortunately I have not had the opportunity to practice maternity
nursing, this is ultimately why I picked fair for my proficiency category.

I will be sure to apply this knowledge now knowing the significance of

every question that is asked during prenatal care. This will not only help
me currently in my nursing career but also in the future as well.
