Fall 1990 MA Environmental Trade Mission to Europe with Governor Dukakis
There were about 50 MA environmental companies on the Trade Mission to Belgium,
Germany, E. Germany, Hungary, and France. This was organized by the MA Office of International Trade. We had meetings at the Embassies, made presentations, and networked with local companies. The last talks with local companies ended in France at the US Embassy in the room where Napoleon surrendered (photo). The next day representatives from two companies were selected to go to the World Trade Center in Paris and talk about their success during the Trade Mission. This was the first teleconference between the world Trade Centers in Paris and Boston. I spoke for about 15 minutes about our success. When we returned to Boston, Governor Dukakis got a group together to discuss forming an Environmental Business Group. This resulted in forming the Environmental Business Council in 1991. It still exists today as the Environmental Business Council of NE.
