I have chosen to do the two epitaphs.

I have done the epitaphs for Laertes and

Hamlet. I chose them because I thought they were similar in a small way. Hamlet
lost someone dear to him and then his mother got with his dads brother. Laertes
lost Polonius and then eventually Ophelia committed suicide. Hamlets tombstone is
based on going down the right path and keeping your mind clear. The reason I did
this for Hamlets is because he seems to be mad for the whole play and he doesnt
have the right state of mind. Some epitaphs are warnings of what not to do and
what not to become. Hamlets is just some advice for passersby on how not to go
insane such as he was. to be or not to be that is the question whether tis nobbler in
the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune or to take arms
against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them this quote helps further define
the conflicts hamlet had faced throughout the play. He was left to make some
difficult choices and to do the right thing. Some examples are whether or not hamlet
is to kill Claudius or not listen to the ghost of his father. o that this too too solid
flesh would melt, Thaw, and resolve itself into a dew! Or that the everlasting had
not fixed his canon gainst self-slaughter This quote has Hamlet with his
contemplations of suicide which was an ongoing topic throughout the story. Hamlet
contemplated suicide but overall religious beliefs ruled over him because he didnt
want to go to hell. Religion is an ongoing topic in the story as well, everything that is
done the people look to god to repent or to pray for an answer. I did enact Julius
Caesar. I was killed I th capitol. Brutus killed me this was a quote by Polonius and I
used it here because it made me infer that he was going to die soon such as Julius
Caesar died. There is a lot of the inference to death within the play. Laertes epitaph
is more focused on revenging his father and boasting about his strengths. This
above all to thine own self be true, And it must follow, as the night the day, Thou

canst not then be false to any man. Farewell, my blessing season this in thee! this
quote is from Polonius speaking to Laertes before he ships out. His father was such
an influential part of his life and that is why he has so much anger against Hamlet.
His father was the only one who was keeping his sister sane since he left. After he
died, his sister lost her mind and ended up killing herself. This deepened the anger
that Laertes had and made him want to kill hamlet even more. After Laertes had
found out what king Claudius has done he regrets poisoning Hamlet. He also
realizes that his father was just caught in a bad place at a bad time and it was not
entirely Hamlets fault.
