A STUDY OF GENERAL PUBLIC AWARNESS ON THE

INVESTMENT OF REMITTANCES MONEY AS CAPITAL

FOR PRODUCTIVE SECTOR

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION

1.1. Background of the Study

Different scholar has different view on remittance. For example Ukeje E. U., and
Obiechina M. E., (2013, as cited in Gammeltoft, 2002; & Ratha, 2007), argue that
Remittances are becoming very important source of foreign financial flows, especially
in developing countries, both in size and growth rate, exceeding the inflows of most
forms of financial flows. The true size of remittances as well as unrecorded flows
through formal and informal channels is believed to be significantly large.
