Islam is a RELIGION not an ETHNICITY
Ethnicity: Your national/cultural Origin
It is practiced by Muslims

Overview of Basic Background we will teach
Who is God?
What are basic Islamic practices?
What are Islamic beliefs?

Who is God to Muslims?

Islams God is Allah. Muslims do not
believe in any visuals to represent
Allah. This is because they never seen
Allah so they dont know how he looks
like.
-Allah is just
-Allah is merciful (forgiving)
-Allah is peace

What are basic Islamic

practices?

In order to be in good terms with God, you have

to do some practices. For example, Muslims pray 5

times a day at certain times and facing towards

Mecca. Mecca is a holy place in Saudi Arabia where
all Muslims are supposed to visit at least once in
their lives.

This is Mecca

What are some Islamic

beliefs?
There is only one god, Allah
Muslims believe that Allah has control of
everything
If something occurs it is because Allah
allowed it to happen.
There are angels watching over each and
every person at all times.
Theres life after death.
There are messengers from Allah down in
Earth, they are called prophets.

What is
Islamophobia?
Islamophobia is dislike
of or prejudice against
Islam or Muslims

An example of a hate crime that

happened in a mosque (Islamic
church) in Rhode Island that
happened last year. (2/16/15)
9/11 was the start of many
stereotypes that are used
against muslims and the

What do we
do with a
difference?
Do we stand
and discuss
its oddity
or do we
ignore it?
Do we shut
our eyes to it
or poke it
with a stick?
Do we
clobber it to
death?

Do we look at
it in awe
or purely in
wonderment?
Do we work
for it to
disappear?

Do we move
around it in
rage
and enlist the
rage of others?
Do we will it to
go away?

Do we pass it
stealthily
Or change
route away
from it?
Do we will it
to become
like
ourselves?

What do we do
with a
difference?
Do we
communicate
to it,
let application
acknowledge it
for barriers to
fall down?
