Summary: Wondering why traditionally in media Buddhist monks have shaved heads. I
found this was due solely how hollywood and other media has portrayed Buddhists.
Where has this come from then, most buddhists do not shave their heads, those who
do are following the path to becoming ordained as a Priest, monk/nun, or minister.
Ordination in japanese is tokudo going to the other side mainly referring to rivers.
The reason behind this is that it is a symbolic act of letting go of one worldly
possessions and even symbolizing the letting go of one's ego, or self image. However
another reason for shaving ones head is at the Kikyoshiky Ceremony. Kikyoshiky is
not an ordination however it is an confirmation, that one is ready to become a disciple
of Shakyamuni Buddha. And even if a buddhist shaves their head they can grow it back
in any style they want.

Analysis/Reflection:
I personally just found the beginning and end of what a read the most interesting. That
even though the vast majority of buddhists dont have shaved heads, the ones who do
can often grow it back without a care. Even more interesting is how media has blown
that whole segment of the religion out of proportion. The fact that now it so engraved
that every movie and show that shows buddhists, has them all have shaved heads. It is
almost saddening that we believe all of it even when its not even permanent that in the
first place.

Summary: The Rules of war stated in the islamic Quran/Koran, are referring to Jihad
commonly known as the holy war. These rules vary according to source but they state
the same message. First Conquered women and children can be enslaved. This
originated because of Muhammad and his followers overtook other people and thus
manley sold them to slavery to produce much wealth. Second refers to captive women
become wives to their captors. The Third is that captured enemies can be killed, let go
or ransomed for money. Much for the same as the first this has manley to due with
wealth and what the captors decided. Forth is the those conquered can choose or are
forced to convert. This manley is so the the religion can spread through the lands. Fifth
refers to killing old men and monks. Manley this has to due with the stopping of
influence of other religions. Sixth is that Property may be stolen, this referring to times
of war and the enemies property. The seventh is the fruit trees many be taken or
destroyed, this causes the enemies to run out of food supplies. The Eighth is the final
Rule and it is that homes may be destroyed, for the same reasons as sevan. It is to stop
enemies from returning to those spots.

Analysis/Reflection:
I can see how there probably are many adaptations of these rules, all of which are to
suit them to ones needs. However many i see how they could have been ok at the
times such as the slavery. But nowadays they are completely out dated and should not
be used or even used in the first place.
