3. School Report
3.1.

Principals report
3.1.1. April is Health & Wellness Month. There have been weekly activities: e.g., banana dressed
volunteers checking students lunch for Healthy Lunch week; kilometer club where all students run
during recess; Track and Field event April 28
3.1.2. Character assembly celebrating Co-operation on Friday, April 28
3.1.3. Pink Day celebrating positive relationships and anti-bullying initiatives
3.1.4. Students will participate in city wide 20 minute clean up on April 22
3.1.5. Book Fair organized by Librarian and parent volunteers May 2-6.
3.1.6. Lice Check: The Lice Crew agency came on April 1, 2016. Several cases were found and have been
treated.
3.2. Graduation
3.2.1. Gr 5 Graduation is scheduled for June 27, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
3.2.2. Gr 6 Graduation is June 28, 2016 at 4:00 pm here at Cliffwood
3.3. G6 Overnight graduation field trip at Lake St. George Field Centre from June 1-3.
3.4. EQAO
3.4.1. G3 EQAO date: May 31, June 1, June 2

3.5.1. A G3/4 split is required because the cap on class sizes for a G3/4 split is 23 instead of 20 and
maximizes staff allocation based on enrollment

Nutrition program proposal

3.6.1. Principal applied for nutrition grant, which would provide a healthy snack for every student with 3
food groups covered. However, the grant doesnt cover all costs. This is a program run by Toronto
Foundation for Student Success. A facilitator will be hired.
3.7. Funding Requests:
3.7.1. 102 chairs for gym have been purchased at $2,900.00
3.7.1.1. DECISION: Tirso Beltran moves to set aside $650.00 for chairs moved. Sevelina Kolarova
seconds. Motion is carried
3.7.2. Decal with panther logo on the gym wall to promote Cliffwood spirit, a quote has been provided at
$389.00
3.7.3. 45 Cross-country T-shirts required for Grade 2 and up, at $717.00
3.7.3.1. DECISION: Motion approved to set aside $717.00 for T-shirts in September 2016
3.7.4. Class set of ukuleles, at $36.00 each, about $1,330.00 for a class. School will work with the schedule
to make sure as many classes as possible to have access.
3.7.4.1. DECISION: Motion approved to set aside $1330.00 for ukuleles
3.7.5. Terry Fox and Play Day freezies station cost estimated at $250.00 for both events.
3.7.5.1. DECISION: Esther Chung moves to set aside $250.00 for freezies. Julie Kwok seconds. Motion
is carried
3.8. Parent feedback on fieldtrip planning (# of trips, costs etc.)
3.8.1. There shouldn't be a cap on the cost of field trips.
Spring Lunch Hour programs
4.1. Art/Drawing class: due to delay with service provider obtaining police check, class is cancelled.
4.2. Chess class is very successful. An extra class was added.
Treasurer's Report
5.1. Teachers still need to submit receipts for classroom allocations
5.2. $3,435 available in our Cliffwood PS account to be allocated
Other business
6.1. Health & Physical Education Curriculum resources
6.1.1. Human development and sexuality are part of the Healthy Relationship component of the
curriculum. It is not necessarily taught in isolation. Teachers will communicate with parents about
this just as they do with other subjects. Resources are available on the TDSB website. If parents
have questions or concerns about the curriculum, please see administration.
