History
Wetback stereotype originated from Mexican immigrants crossing the
Rio Grande to immigrate to the U.S in 1920s
More than 40 million immigrants resided in the United States as of
2012
Most immigrants come to the U.S. to seek better opportunities in life
and jobs
Poverty rates for Hispanics are 24% which is more than double of nonHispanic Whites -10%.

Motivation
We live right by the border
Cant find solution, but we have the opportunity to start up
conversations here and get the first hand experiences of
immigration.
Some of us are Mexican or have Mexican family members and we
are curious to what other people have to say.

Project Summary
What is our project?
Were interviewing any willing people and telling them some facts
about the European immigrants
Including all the atrocities that were committed against the Native
Americans.
We will first tell them as if theyre about present day Mexican
immigrants. Then reveal they are not.
We hope to engage them in a conversation about immigration
afterwards and get their thoughts and opinions.

What we want to accomplish

Educate & give statistics of
European Immigrants during
beginning of America
How it ties into today of current
Mexican immigrants
Also give statistics about
Mexican immigrants

Our Goal (Conclusion)

Inform on why Mexicans are given their stereotypes
Prove that this is something that we should overcome (nobody should
be labeled in a disrespectful manner)
Our goal in this project is show stereotypes only paint a picture
of a small portion of immigrants.
We are all allowed to have our own opinions on what happens to
our country, but we need to understand all the facts first.
