2. GEOGRAPHY
2.1. Location
Dekmi is located at the South East point of
Greenland. It rests on the Eurasian tectonic
plate and the North American tectonic plate,
these combine to create a divergent tectonic
boundary spanning across the country. It is
7116 km from the equator giving it its cool
winters and slightly warmer summers. Because
of Dekmi close proximity to the North Pole, it
allows its residents to view the Northern
Lights almost daily.
2.2. Landmarks
Because of Dekmis position on the tectonic plate boundaries it has allowed not
only numerous volcanoes to form but also large glaciers.
The largest glacier in Dekmi is Saradothien. It is located in the southeast
portion of the island and has an area of 3240 sq. mi. This Glacier covers almost 8%
of the country and is the second largest in the entire world. It serves as a tourist
attraction with daily tours around the glacier.
Dekmi largest volcano in Iceland is Defguv (or as the locals call it,
Screaming Girl), reaching up to 1512 meters. It also happens to be the most active
volcano in Iceland having erupted 28 times 930 and 1918. Whilst it has not erupted
significantly within the past 98 years, tourists and residents are not recommend to
stay within close proximity of the volcano.
The highest point on Dekmi is Grisha. It reaches up to 6992 meters. Only
advanced hikers are advised to take the climb to the top of the peak with a guide at
hand. Tours are also arranged along the shorter routes of the mountain which do
not span as high and can be more bearable for less experienced people.

are slightly different to the towns on the West in terms of food. In the east they
tend to not eat as much fish as the population on the west. This is due to the
overall easier accessibility of the farms and the fact that the fishing industry is not
as prominent as it is on the West. There are outlying villages as well, most of
which dedicated to farming but are nowhere as big as the main Town, some only
consisting on five main houses, although towns that small are also small in
number.
The Town based in the far North-West portion of the Island is mostly dedicated to
the fishing industry. This is where all of the local fish produce comes from, these
fish are used in trading and sustaining the population. Because of the greater
number of fish, it is more common to see fish on the dinner table. There are
smaller fishing villages surrounding this village. This is where all of the main
fishermen stay, however, if there is a car service which transports people from the
main town to the docks.
3. GOVERNMENT
3.1. Government System
Dekmi follows the democracy system. Every three years a new president is elected
and the candidate with the second most votes becomes the vice president.
However, if the elected president is found to not be doing their job properly or is
found to be serving their own individual needs, the people have the right to vote
the president out of job. If this were to be the case, the vice president would take
the presidents place and there would be another smaller election for another vice
president.
3.2. Voting
There are three parties which regularly become candidates. The public is allowed
to vote for whomever they please. Voting takes place every three years in June.
Each town has one voting station. Any smaller outlying towns must travel to main
town if they wish to vote. Each person is entitled to one vote and must be at least
18 in order to vote.
Any people living outside of the country may still vote if they still have a Dekmish
passport. However, online voting is not permitted due to chances of corruption. If
PAGE 4
a person living outside of the country wishes to vote, they may do so if they travel
back to Dekmi for a short period of time with the intention to vote during their
visit.
4. JUDICIAL SYSTEM
Dekmi follows a combination of Civil and Common law.
4.1. Court
Because of Dekmis combination of Civil and Common law, when in court the
person at question will face three judges and a jury made up of ten people. The
three judges are to insure that no important decision is left to just one person.
Instead the power of the decision making is spread between three people. It is
these peoples responsibility to decide on a suitable punishment if a person is
found to be guilty. This decision must directly relate to what the jury has
previously decided.
When in court, it is preferred that three pieces of evidence is provided. Evidence
that the person was at the scene of the crime is also a necessity, be this DNA
evidence or a reliable eye witness. However, these evidence requirements can be
bypassed if there is one condemning evidence which is certain to close the case,
this could be a video tape with the person committing the crime.
4.2. Laws
This country also has the basic laws of any country. No thievery, murder,
molestation ect. However the punishments for the crime are up for interpretation.
If someone were to steal something, their punishment would depend on what they
stole and their history. For example, if someones record was filled with criminal
activity and stole something, they would be punished more severely, then
someone who had stolen something for the first time. This is not to inflict
favoritism, but to give a warning before the punishments begin to get harsher.
Murder and other crimes like it will get the person locked away in jail for life.
There is no death sentence in Dekmi.
Drug abuse and drug dealing is strictly forbidden. Anyone caught dealing drugs
will be dealt a minimum of five years in prison. However if someone were to be
PAGE 5
abusing drugs they would go to a different prison. This one is specialized with
dealing with drug cases, and helps rehabilitate past drug abusers.
If a person was found guilty of abusing drugs and another crime, they
would first go to rehab for a minimum of one year before carrying out their other
punishment.
5. RELIGION
5.1. Protestant and Atheist
Religion in Dekmi is almost divided fifty, fifty by Protestant and atheist. There are
other religions in Dekmi but none as prominent as the first two. Because of the
protestant population, each town has a small church but none are large enough to
hold many people, it can hold fifty people at best. It is a choice to go to church on
a Sunday which many people take up on. Over the years there has been mild
conflicts between the Protestants and atheists but none have ever gotten serious.
There have been no religious shootings.
5.2. Holidays
Holidays in Dekmi become complicated around the school year. Schools receive
the basic holidays, but religious holidays tend to be more selective. Christmas is a
fixed holiday for three weeks, however other religious holidays are selective. For
example if there were to be a Muslim child in the school and Ramadan came
about, only the Muslim child would take a brief holiday. This is to minimize the
disruption of the school year for the other children. The Muslim child may be able
to take a long weekend to a week off, however upon their return to school they
must take extra short lesson to catch up on the work that they may have missed.
6. ECONOMICS
Dekmi runs on a partially free market economy.
5.1. Business
Citizens are encouraged to set up business, however they must be government
approved. In order to be government approved the business owners must state
what use people would have for their products, prove the products worth, show
that it will do minimal damage to the environment and state how much money
PAGE 6
they would be asking the government for. If the business gets approved the
entrepreneur may continue with their plans, the government will supply a loan to
get the business started which the business must pay back in small amounts once
it starts generating enough money. Business run on a supply and demand bases
which is decided by the people.
In terms of marriage, there are no restrictions on it. Lesbian and gay marriage are
just as encouraged as straight marriages.
5.3. Taxes
Each citizen is taxed on a system where the tax payed increases along with the
persons income. A persons income is separated into three boundaries, low
income, medium income and high income. The boundaries for all of these
different incomes are:
Tax Rate
0%
25%
30%
However, once a persons income exceeds the high income brackets, for every next
$5000 they earn they must pay another 3% on top of their original tax. This is to
insure that the rich do not contribute less than they can.
Items sold in shops also include 1% tax on top of each price.
7. CULTURE
7.1. National Day
Dekmis national day falls on the 3rd November. It celebrates when the the island
was first officially established back in 1900. It is a public holiday. In the capital a
week long fair takes place which everyone is welcome to see. Flags are hung out of
PAGE 7
peoples houses and it is tradition for the people to wear the countries flag colours,
blue, green and black. The fair on National day is filled with stands selling, locally
made items and traditional fish dishes from the West and traditional Vegetarian
dishes from the East.
7.2. Food
There two main sections of Dekmi, the West and the East. Whilst they are free to
move from the East to the West and vice versa they still developed different foods
depending on what type of village was on that side of the country. For example,
the West is dedicated more to fishing than farming so they eat more fish than the
East. The East farms a lot more than the West so it eats a lot more vegetables than
the West. However, both sides transport their own produce to each other through
train.
7.3. Clothes
There are no traditional clothes of Dekmi. However because of its cold weather
people tend to where warmer clothes all of the time outside, even in the summer
because the weather doesnt get much warmer than it was during the winter.
People are welcome to wear what they wish as long as they are not naked.

the very top of Defguv. The little girl stood at the brim of the Volcanos crater with
her Mother rushing up behind her. As the mother reaches out to bring her child
away from the edge, the little girl trips and falls in. Her scream as she fell cracked
the rock and her body broke it open, revealing the lava beneath. This was the first
night that the volcano erupted.
The eruption killed the town and the mother. Now it is said that whenever
the girl begins to scream from the depth of the volcano the rock cracks further
allowing lava to flow again. Only the ghost of the mother can soothe her
daughters screams with a lullaby and allow the eruption to stop.
Paradise through Volcanos:
This tells the story of an adventure from another land who ventured up to the top
of Defguv in order to explore its crater. It was a peaceful day and the rocks and
volcano had never seemed more peaceful then they did then.
As the traveler was exploring the outside of the created he notices
something strange. Something that looked almost like a stairwell, leading down
into the depth of the volcano. The mans curiosity got the best of him, where did
this mysterious staircase made of rock lead to? He wondered, He couldnt see the
end of it for it became too dark to see after the tenth step.
The traveler slowly descends down the staircase, but it end at the tenth step
without the man realizing it and he falls down into the depths of the volcano.
Instead of meeting rock or lava like he was sure that he would, instead he meets
water going as far down as he could imagine. Once he surfaces he discovers a
world beneath the volcano, where it is never cold and everything grows all year
round.
The traveler, being the curious man that he was explores this place. It goes
as far as he could see, but soon, after the day was up one fact was very clear to him
He was alone. Then the thought struck him, if he were able to get back to the
surface he may be able to bring people back here and show them the wonders of
the world beneath their feet. But there was one problem, the exit was above the
bottomless lake and the staircase was too far above his head to even be able to see
it. He had no idea how far he had fallen, and no way of ever getting back to the
surface.
Feeling defeated and alone the traveler wanders the world bellow alone,
until he comes to a mysterious tree with fruits floating up high, the only things
keeping them attached were the branches of the tree. Then a brilliant thought
PAGE 9
struck the traveler. He could write a message, and use one of these fruits to send it
up the volcano and to the outside world again. Using a spear piece of parchment
and a pen which he kept on him at all times he wrote a letter describing the world
that he had found and its wonders and invited people to join him. Using the fruit
he send this message up the volcano.
The message reaches an outlying town who reads the letter. For curiosity
alone they sent out a small search party to Defguv to investigate the truthfulness of
this letter. However, once they reach the top, they cant find the staircase no
matter how hard they look. They go back to town empty handed and discard the
letter as a meaningless childish prank. No one ever finds the world bellow the
volcano and the traveler becomes doomed to die alone.

AGRICULTURE
People can only fish on certain parts of the country to avoid overfishing
Fishing nets may not be left in the sea over night
Farms are only around volcanos, and the farmers funning the farms may not
live dangerously close to the volcanos for safety reasons. There is a service
provided which take farmers to their farms in the morning

Fruit Farms:
Fruit farms only grow fruits which are more adapted to the colder climate which
Dekmi is accustomed to. These fruits include: Strawberries, grapes, appeals and
peaches.
There are two types of fruit farms, one that plant tree fruits and the other
that plant fruits that grow of smaller plant like strawberries. It is very rare that you
would find a combination of the two on one farm due to space.
Vegetables:
Vegetable farms grow a variety of produce which include: carets, lettuce, spinach,
radishes, and sometimes beans.

10. TRADING
10.1. What is traded?
Dekmi doesnt have much to offer other countries apart from their local produce,
which is highly valued around the world. It is sold in local stores around the world
for affordable prices.
10.2. Trade partners
Dekmi trades with America and China. From these countries Dekmi receives
fabrics, metals and meat just to name a few. The relationships with these countries
are vital since Dekmi has no way of easily accessing these resources any other way.
11. CONCLUSION
Dekmi is a peaceful country which strives for the best methods of living possible.
Despite its small population and limited natural resources other than fish and
farmed it has been able to develop over the years in such a way which attracts
people to its beautiful untouched cites of volcanos, glaciers and mountains. Its
northern lights are a spectacular sight which can been seen island wide.
Dekmis democracy and combination of Civil and Common law makes for a
fair place to live where people are safe to live their lives as they please. Its law
make for a expecting community and allow anyone to marry anyone.
Because of Dekmis acceptance of all religions and cultures there is little to
no conflict between the people. Holidays, whilst selective, are arranged to fit
everyones religious or none religious needs. Its folklore keeps its history alive
PAGE 14
through stories of people venturing into the volcanos, somewhere now an optional
off limits to the citizens of the island.
The partially free market economy allows people to share their ideas and
sell their products freely, with or without government help. With the business
regulations it makes pollution minimal allowing the surrounding environment to
thrive on still with minimal human interference.
Its agriculture in the East and fishing industry in the West not only allows
the island to have a natural food source but also gives the island resources to trade
with. This allows them to get other necessary resources which the island and the
people need which cannot be easily accessed on the island such as animal meat,
metal and fabrics.
Dekmi strives for a peaceful future with minimal conflict internal and external.
