What is moral decay in societies and how has technology caused it?

People have become more obsessed and into their phones, computers and social
media that theyve completely forgotten the outside world and the community
around them.
What age groups are more affected?
Most all age groups are affected but teenagers and young adults are the ones
normally affected the most because of how much they are associated with social
media and how much of our work is done on our technology
Conclusion:

I believe that the main reason for a certain amount of moral decay is the
exposure that children these days have. Kids these days have complete
access to the internet at the age of 6. Children at the age of 6-10 are exposed
to things that are meant for teenagers. 8 year olds having instagram
accounts , using an IPhone , surfing the net without any supervision. People
have become more obsessed and of their phones, computers and social media that
theyve completely forgotten the outside world and the community around them.

Parents are to be partially blamed for this as they have let the reins go. It is
important to control the information that a child has access to specially
during a time of his life when he cant completely comprehend how to use it
,the context in which it is used and the proper time and place to use it.

Technological unemployment:
Technological unemployment is when there is lack of jobs or when people
lose their jobs due to technological changes. People are replaced by capital
goods and machinery because sometimes it makes the job easier also
quicker.

I think that technology makes the world a much smaller and a much
less private place.

Technology has done away with many unskilled jobs and replaced them with fewer jobs
requiring more skills

Interaction between people is less

Less face to face interaction
Dependence
Games xbox and play station instead of physical games
Social media
Create stress
Conclusion:
Technology will always outstripped our morality as every times new technology
arise it will create new question to challenge our morality position.

This is has been going on since the dawn of MySpace. After

MySpace, there was Facebook, then Twitter, Instagram, and
Snap chat. That doesn't even begin to mention the amount of
gaming apps there are. Ever since mobile smart phones came
out it has gotten so much worse. Everyone has started
texting each other when they are 10 feet away rather than
just talking to them. So this has been going on for quite some
time now.

Unemployment:
Computers are taking away jobs that humans once performed.
Look at all the computerized phone operators for example. Or
computerized assembly machines.

machines automate processes and do the work of 10 people with one computer, companies find
they don't need to employ as many people to get the job done.

Job Loss: Modern technology has replaced many humans; robots are
doing the jobs which used to be done by humans. Many packing firms
have employed robots on production lines to increase production and
efficiency, this is good news for businesses because it helps them make
more money and serve customers in time, but it is bad news to
employees because they get replaced by a robot.

Perpetuates Laziness - Now that people can do most of their

work/jobs at a computer they have less need to get up and walk
around. Many families are stuck in front of televisions. Many
children are stuck in front of game systems. We are becoming
lazier and lazier the more we can entertain ourselves while sitting
in front of some form of technology.
Over dependence;
The more advanced society becomes technologically, the more
people begin to depend on computers and other forms of
technology for everyday existence. This means that when a
machine breaks or a computer crashes, humans become almost
disabled until the problem is resolved. This kind of dependency on
technology puts people at a distinct disadvantage, because they
become less self-reliant.

World destruction weapons: Modern technology has been the main

aid in the increasing and endless wars. It aids the manufacturing of
modern war weapons which will require testing. So when these weapons
get into the hands of criminals, they will use them for their selfish
reasons.

Social Media:

meant for teenagers. 8 year olds having instagram accounts ,
using an IPhone , surfing the net without any supervision
Social Media is main cause of moral decay. After MySpace, there
was Facebook, then Twitter, Instagram, and Snap chat. A recent
Research survey of adults in the U.S. found that 71% use
Facebook at least occasionally, and 45% of Facebook users check
the site several times a day.

1) Mankind's violent nature:

Technology has lead to the invention of numerous weapons (Abomb, automatic rifle, sword and shield)
that have lead to the deaths of nearly a billion people over our
history.
Modern technology has been the main aid in the increasing and endless
wars.
It aids the manufacturing of modern war weapons. So when these weapons
get into the hands of criminals, they will use them for their selfish reasons.

Over dependence:
Conclusion:
We use technology to do everything for us. We are not able to think for
ourselves anymore. Technology is creating bad habits, ruining social skills,
destroying health, and running the workplace therefore we are overly
dependent on technology.
Notably technology is creating many different bad habits but one of the
worst is that we are no longer using our brains.
The human race is becoming extremely lazy, we barely have to lift a finger to
complete a task. We rely on computers for all of our answers instead of
trying our self.

2) OVER DEPENDENCE:
We have become over dependent on our machinery (computers, television,
automobiles.) and cannot seem to function without it:

when a machine breaks or a computer crashes, humans become

almost disabled until the problem is resolved.
This kind of dependency on technology puts people at a distinct
disadvantage, because they become less self-reliant.

An accounting firm may opt to use computers in its operation and lay off a
number of accounting clerks

Students are more intresting in social networking sites rather then

studying
Conclusion:

The more advanced technology becomes, the more it seems to have control over
our lives

4) Social Media:

then studying

People have become more obsessed of social media that theyve

completely forgotten the outside world and the community
around them.
I think social media sites like Twitter and Instagram allow young adults to glamorize
behavior that threatens the very infrastructure of our society as a whole.

Health Problem:
Using headphones and ear buds can cause people to lose their hearing over
time.
Likewise, straining your eyes looking at computer and device screens can cause
people to need glasses much earlier in life

Health and Technology

Technology can have a large impact on users' mental and physical health.
Being overly connected can cause psychological issues such as
distraction, narcissism, expectation of instant gratification, and even
depression. Beside affecting users' mental health, use of technology can
also have negative repercussions on physical health causing vision
problems, hearing loss, and neck strain. Fortunately, there are steps that
can be taken to help alleviate these health issues.
Vision problem,
Hearing loss
Neck strain
Listening to music causes hearing loss.
Looking at screens all day damages your eyesight. After a long workday, your
eyes probably hurt from staring at a computer.
Typing and texting can cause carpal tunnel.
Carpal tunnel, or pressure on nerves in the hand that leads to numbness, pain, and
loss in function, is often associated with typing or texting.
Cell phones cause cancer.
The main concern about cell phone use is that mobile phones release a type of
electromagnetic radiation called radiofrequency energy. Radiation has been linked
with cancer

Because of the amount of time children spend watching television, views and
behaviors are affected

Conclusion:
The advancement of science and technology affected us in many negative ways in term of
destruction, pollution, insecurity in daily life, and health problem. Weapons which brought
destruction and which help to created war. Harmful affects of chemical such as CFC in our cars,
refrigerator, and machinery that destroy the ozone, which protect us from the heat of the sun
and also prevent us from have skins cancer. The more machineries and technology we built the
more resources we need. The more natural habitat will be destroy so people could get those
resources, and the natural habitat is to help us from polluting the air and protect our ozone. So
science and technology are responsible for many of the problems that face us today

I believe that we are going through a period of cultural lag; where our material lives (technology)
is advancing faster than our non-material lives (beliefs, ideals, morals)

Negative Impact on Personal Contact

The stereotype depicts a teenager at the dinner table,
completely disinterested in family time, instead being
completely occupied with text messaging and mobile
instant messenger. This also happens to be a problem at
school. Cell phones may dehumanize the dynamics of
human contact. Some people may not know how to
interact in real life anymore, preferring the safety and
comfort of a well-timed SMS.

People get too occupied with their BlackBerries and other

devices, not interacting with the real-life people in front
of them.

5) Pollution caused by Automobiles:

It causes harm to the atmosphere and oceans
The rate of atmospheric CO2 is increasing dramatically and it
bears the signature of our automobiles.
There is a mass and charge difference between the CO2 that
power plants and cars produce vs natural CO2
Plants that manufacture the electronics are emitting toxic fumes into the air.

Televisoin and Games:

Now that people can do most of their work/jobs at a computer
they have less need to get up and walk around.

Pollution:
The increased demand for new technologies and advancement of
technologies has resulted into many manufacturing and processing factories. As
they work so hard to create the best technologies for both society and business,
they release harmful chemicals and gasses which have polluted our environment
and this has resulted into climate changes (global warming).

YAHOO ANS
I believe that it's the division of the nuclear family. With both parents working, the television,
video games and the internet are raising children. Parents just don't have time to deal with
anything so they buy them these toys that will occupy them. Many of these television shows give
children an unrealistic view of reality and it can cause them to be depressed that their lives
aren't like that of their favourite characters on the tele. Video games train kids to be killers. I
know that they are just video games and not everyone who plays them goes around pulling a
Tommy Vercetti (GTA Vice City), but just being able to kill someone on a video game is that
much closer to being able to kill someone that 10 year olds were twenty-five years ago when
you could only play Pac-Man and Pong on your Atari. The internet goes hand in hand with

television except a little beyond that as kids may be able to access anything that they can
possibly dream of.

lack of accountability by people and companies, improper discipline by parents, lacking of

spiritual influence.
improper manors, me first attitude

Internet has done more to isolate people while giving them the illusion that they are more
connected. Communities are not as strong as they used to be. The internet is not the only factor
of course but it does play a role. The internet with information right there makes people lazier
because they are less inclined to go to the library and speak to someone.

People use technology to carry out even the simplest of tasks everyday. Instead of
writing, we type. Instead of working out a math problem, we use a calculator. People
will literally drive to their mailboxes to get the mail instead of walking. We use
technology to make our meals, wash our clothes and take care of business in the
bathroom (which is why people hate power outages.). Board games are obsolete.
Now, we have television and games to entertain ourselves. Do you want to stay
warm? Use the heater and forget the fireplace.

Death of written art:

There is more typing and clicking happening than writing with a writing instrument. Increasingly,
we are moving into an age where the mouse, keyboard and keypads are dearer to us than the
nimble pen

We have moved from the joy of writing on a wonderful piece of paper, folding it, putting it in an
envelope, applying the stamp and sending the letter, to typing and sending to a virtual email
address.

get on them and you don't have to have wifi all the time as
you do with computers or tablets.
