Theshaftshouldbeflushwiththerightsideof

Rotation
Direction

rotationdirectioncanbe
confirmedbychecking
theCW/CCWswitchon
thebackoftheSpeed

Rotatethesysteminthat
directionuntiltheleading

notchislinedupwiththe
centerofthekeyphasor
probe(seefiguretothe

Alignthe0degreemark
onthemasswiththe
keyphasorprobeand
tightenbothsetscrews

IMPORTANT:BeforetheRotorKitcanberunthroughresonancetheshaftmustbestraightened.This
canbedonebyrunningtheRotorKitatslowrollandusingtheADREsoftwaretodeterminethe
deflection,andthenphysicallybendingtheshaftstraight.Theslowrollshaftdeflectionmustbeinthe
rangeof0.5to0.7milspeaktopeak(milspp)BEFORErunningthroughresonancetoassurethatthe
shaftbowwillnotcontacttheprobes.

SlowRollBalancingTechnique:
1. PowerupthecomputerandBentlyequipment
2. Clickon"ADREforWindows"icon
3. File>Open>Adrewin\database\single>Ok
4. RuntheRotorKitatSlowRoll
5. ClickonStoreEnable
6. Readvaluesfor1X:Amplitude=......PhaseAngle=......
7. StopRotorKit
NOTE:WhentheRotorKitisstoppedtheADREsoftwarewillgivea"KeyphasorError"
WhenyoustarttheRotorKitagain,clickonthe"ClearError"button.

8. Rotatemassuntilthephaseanglefromstep#6linesupwiththeKeyphasorprobe
9. Pushdownverticallytostraightentheshaft.Thiswillrequiresomepractice.Ifnotenoughforceis
appliedtheshaftwillnotbefullystraightened.Iftoomuchforceisappliedthentheshaftwillbe
bentintheoppositedirection.
10. RuntheRotorKitatSlowRollandreadthenewvaluesfor1X:
Amplitude=......PhaseAngle=......
11. Iftheamplitudeincreasesafterbendingatapproximatelythesamephaseangle,thenstoptheRotor
Kitandrotatethemassuntilthephaseangleis180degreesawayfromthekeyphasorprobeand
applyforce.
12. Repeatsteps711untiltheshaftbowis0.5>0.7millpp
Nowthesystem(withoutanybalancingweights)shouldbecapableofrunningthroughresonance
withoutcontactingtheprobes.

Multiplythenumberonthe"MaxSpeedSetpoint"dialby10togettheRPM(ie.knobreads243
=2430RPM)
SlowRollspeedis250RPM
Theaccerationrateisvalidwhenrampinguporrampingdown,butnotwhenyouswitchfrom
ramptoSlowRoll
