ABSTRAK

Prevalensi pemberian ASI eksklusif di Indonesia masih rendah. Berdasarkan

data dari Dinas Kesehatan Provinsi Sumatera Utara pada tahun 2005 cakupan ASI
eksklusif di Sumatera Utara 52 %. Sampai saat ini belum ada catatan mengenai
cakupan pemberian ASI eksklusif di Kelurahan Padang Bulan.
Penelitian bertujuan untuk menganalisa faktor - faktor yang berhubungan
dengan pemberian ASI eksklusif pada balita di Kelurahan Padang bulan Kecamatan
Medan Baru Tahun 2010. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian survey bersifat
observasional analitik dengan desain Cross Sectional. Populasi dalam penelitian ini
seluruh Ibu yang memiliki balita di Kelurahan Padang bulan. Jumlah sampel yang
dibutuhkan 106, dipilih secara purvosive dengan proporsi balita terbanyak terdapat
di lingkungan I, II, III, IV, dan V. Data primer diperoleh dengan wawancara
langsung dengan Ibu balita memakai kuesioner tertutup sedangkan data sekunder
diperoleh dari kantor Kelurahan Padang Bulan. Analisis data dilakukan dengan
analisis univariat dan analisis bivariat dengan uji chi square.
Dari hasil analisis univariat menunjukkan bahwa proporsi prevalens
pemberian ASI eksklusif 10%. Karakteristik umur ibu terbanyak pada usia 35-39
tahun 45%, pendidikan ibu terbanyak SLTA 54,7%, Ibu yang tidak bekerja (IRT)
51,9%, dan paritas terbanyak skundipara 51,9%. Hasil analisis bivariat
menunjukkan terdapat 5 (lima) variabel yang mempunyai hubungan asosiasi yang
bermakna dengan pemberian ASI eksklusif adalah faktor umur ibu yang tidak
berisiko ( p=0,008), ibu yang tidak bekerja ( p=0,002), adanya dukungan keluarga
( p=0,015), jarak persalinan jarang ( p=0,00), dan sumber informasi ASI eksklusif
dari petugas kesehatan (p=0,001).
Rendahnya prevalensi pemberian ASI eksklusif di Kelurahan Padang bulan
sehingga disarankan kepada tenaga kesehatan di Puskesmas Padang bulan agar
lebih aktif dalam memberikan dukungan serta penyuluhan kepada masyarakat
tentang pentingnya pemberian ASI eksklusif.

ABSTRACT
The prevalence of Exclusive Breastfeeding in Indonesia is still at low level.
Based on data of District of Health North Sumatera Province in 2005 the
achievement of Exclusive Breastfeeding is 52%, even data of Exclusive Breastfeeding
in Padang Bulan not collected. There are some factors that influence of Exclusive
Breastfeeding.
The purpose of this research to analyze associated factors of Exclusive
Breastfeeding at Padang Bulan. This research was an analytical cross sectional
design. The population of research are the mother who has baby with age range
between 1-5 years who lived at I, II, III, IV, V district with the total of sample are
106. Data primer was collected by direct interview with mothers by closed quationer.
The data were analyzed with the univariat and bivariat by chi - square tests.
The result of the univariat analyze shows that prevalens of Exclusive
Breastfeeding 10%,. Age of mother majority among 35-39 45%, education of mother
majority SLTA 54,7%, mother without job (IRT) 51,9% and parity of mother with
secundipara 51,9%. Bivariat result shows 5 variabel factors that have influence on
Exclusive Breastfeeding ( age mother without risk, mother without job, family
support, time between delivery, and information of exclusive breastfeeding from
District of Health worker) with p-value <0.05.
It suggested that Padang Bulan District of Health, to increase the campaign
on Exclusive Breastfeeding in order to increase the people whose care and to
socialize how to give Exclusive Breastfeeding and to do counceling, monitoring, and
evaluating which is purposed to increase the effectiveness of implementation of
Exclusive Breastfeeding.
