Graduation
Before
Graduation day, the last day of my high school career, the true end of my high school
career. High school graduation came around so fast. I could not believe I was only minutes away
from receiving my diploma.
I had the title of Cum Laude so I walked in the beginning of the line. I walked down the
concrete path in my red and gray cap and gown, the sweat dripping down my back from the heat.
The day was very hot and humid. I looked at the crowd of about five thousand people and
needed a take a deep breath.
I followed the line to the hot bleachers that awaited me. I saw so many people cheering
and screaming. The announcer began to speak and the ceremony was a go. I wanted to get it over
with. The nerves kicked into overdrive as I sat in the heat. I was really lucky because I was in the
beginning of the names being called. The best part of the ceremony besides my name being
called was the class roller coaster routine. Led by a male student the whole class raised their
arms and pulled them down as if pulling the shoulder bars down on a roller coaster.
After
Graduation day, the last day of my high school career. High school graduation came
around so fast, and I was so close to getting my diploma, the diploma that signified the
completion of high school. I had the title of Cum Laude--the Merit Role--and I sat with all of the
other students who received the title of Cum Laude; I was in the beginning of the name calling
because I was Cum Laude. Was I nervous, walking down the path to the bleachers, my brow
dripping with sweat? Looking, trying to maneuver my gown to keep it from sticking to my back,
the crowd five thousand strong screaming. The announcer spoke, silence ensued, the ceremony
began. The best part of the ceremony was the roller coaster routine, a unique, a one-of-a-kind, a
first for Vineland High School. Led by a male student the whole class raised their arms, pulled
their arms down as if pulling the shoulder bars down on a roller coaster.
Reflection
Using stylistic sentences really changed my story. My story is much more in scene than it was
before. Using stylistic sentences is something that is very new for me. I found that when
changing my sentences and putting them in a stylistic form they become completely different. I
enjoyed changing my sentences. I really think that stylistic sentences are a useful tool for writers
to use to enhance their writing and bring it closer to scene.
