In this area, I will write about assessment 3 of the creating your future
course which is about workplace skills presentation. I recognize what I did
as an evidence of my effective presentation and listening skills. I believe me
and my teammates did well in presenting and doing the activities and quiz
after the presentation and we got a high mark for this assessment.
As shown in the below pictures, the things I believe we did well are we were
prepared to present the first and before presenting we placed pictures on the
wall of the class related to the importance of teamwork. In addition, I created
a poster of invitation for our teamwork training lesson as you can see below
to make our training looks real. To add, we rearranged the tables and made
each five tables together to make girls work as teams as our topic was
teamwork. Moreover, I created brochures related of all the topics we were
going to discuss in the presentation and related to the video, and we gave
each team a brochure before we presented. Also, after presenting, we did
activities related to our lesson teamwork and I believe our chosen
activates were amusing by the interaction we received by the audiences. Our
activities included; words game which required one member from the team to
write on the board two sentences which we gave to her teammates by hearing
letter by letter correctly with closed eyes. Another activity was finding words from
the word teamwork which demands all team members collaboratively to find ten
words from the word teamwork and the team who finished first won. Our third
activity was ball drop which was the most interesting one. The audiences required
delivering the balls between team members to the basket without dropping them
and the winning team was the team who filled the basket with ball with the least
amount of time. Furthermore, what we did well was we gave students quiz that
included questions from all topics we discussed in our lesson such as how to reduce
teams conflict, ways to help teams communicate better, and the significant of trust
among team members. What is more, after the topics, activities, and the quiz, when
we ended our presentation, we gave certificate of completion for students and
thank you letter for our teacher since they attended our teamwork training course.
Below are the things that I did in contributing to the work of our presentation.
The things that we did not do well where few: We took 37 minutes in presenting, but
we should have taken 30 minutes. This is because, the activities delayed as not all
audiences wanted to participate in teamwork activities, so we took time to convince
them. As a consequence we did not have adequate time to give the audiences the
feedback form to assess us, but it was not a big issue as it was not one of the
presentation requirements, and we gave them certificate of completion and a quiz.
Another thing we did not do well is we forgot to open the video, although the link of
it was in the presentation.
I learnt from decision making presentation the following: decision making can
be defined as the mental process of selecting from a set of alternatives.
Examples of types of decision-making in workplace are rational decision
making, bounded rationality decision, intuitive and creative decision making.
Strategies to make the correct decision in the workplace include clarifying
decision difficulties, knowing how we can get support, and ensuring we have
a realistic view of the consequences. The benefits of individual decisions are
they can be more efficient, made quicker, no need for discussion with others,
and no need for meetings. However, the usefulness of the group decisions
can be they are more effective, they combine more information and
knowledge, and there is diversity of views. I learnt there are factors affecting
decision making in the workplace like past experiences, cognitive biases, and
individual differences.
I learnt from problem solving presentation the following: problem solving is
the process of finding solutions to complex or difficult problems. I learnt that
having good problem solving skills can make a large difference to my career.
I learnt about the types of problems that occur at college and how each
presenter solved it. For example, one presenter said that the parking area is
not enough for all students and she solved this problem by talking with
student services and writing a suggesting letter to expand the parking area.
There are four main steps in solving a problem: defining the problem,
creating alternatives, assessing and choosing alternatives, and implementing
solutions.
I learnt from customer service presentation the following: customer service is
the help and support offered by an organization to those people who use or
buy its services or products. The types of services provided can be
complaints, suggestions, inquiries, medical reports, and sick leaves. The
skills that customer services personnel required to have are the capability to
use positive language, clear communication skills, and time management
skills. The words that customer services personnel should use involve please,
yes, may I, can, would you like, and thank you. However, the words they
should avoid include cannot, never, do not, not my job, and I do not know. I
learnt that there are five needs for each customer: service, price, quality,
action, and appreciation.
Overall, this assessment taught me how to conduct a research on a careerrelated topic which is teamwork and how to present it in a creative way. I
believe the most important part for me was when I made everyone engage
with the lesson by asking questions about the topic, and with activities by
