A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING XAVIER UNIVERSITY – ATENEO DE CAGAYAN

CENTRAL GOVERNMENT’S EFFORT TO INSTITUTIONALIZE A CLEAR CUT

STUDENT ASSISTANTS’ SERVICE CODE THAT CLEARLY SETS A PARAMETER
OF THEIR SERVICE

Whereas, the Buklod Atenista as the alliance of the student councils of Ateneo de
Manila University, Ateneo de Naga University, Ateneo de Zamboanga University,
Ateneo de Davao University, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan, seeks to foster
greater collaboration among the student bodies of the five universities that share a
common Ignatian heritage;

Whereas, the 27th Buklod Atenista Conference was held in Ateneo de Manila
University last May 26 -29, 2010;

Whereas, Article II Section 4 of the 2005 Buklod Atenista Constitution states “That
academic excellence, spiritual formation, and social awareness with a direct
involvement thereto, the primary concern of all its members;

Whereas, the Student Assistant Program aside from being a form of financial aid,
also serves a formative function such as skills and personality development;

Whereas, there has been consistent reports of job description inconsistencies,

innocent and abuses from

Whereas, there is a need to review the existing Student Assistant Program design
and policy and lobby a new one which clearly defines their job parameters, a
stronger formation program, and a commensurate compensation system;

Wherefore, be it resolved that the Xavier University – Central student Government

will conduct consultations among the Student Assistants and lobby the Service Code
to the administration.

Wherefore, be it finally resolved that this resolution take effects upon approval of
2/3 of the Buklod Atenista Congress.
