A RESOLUTION URGING THE XAVIER UNIVERSITY ADMINISTRATION TO BAN

THE USE OF STYROFOAMS IN THE UNIVERSITY CAFETERIA

Whereas, the Buklod Atenista, as the coalition of the 5 Ateneo Tertiary schools in
the Philippines, shall ensure the general welfare of the member councils and its
constituents;

WHEREAS, Xavier University, as one of the members of Buklod Atenista has the
right to lobby resolutions to the National Assembly and implement it upon careful
deliberation and approval;

WHEREAS, the XU – Central Student Government, as the highest policy making body
of the Xavier University Community, has the obligation to enforce the provisions
stated in the University magna carta on student’s rights;

WHEREAS, as stipulated in the University magna carta on the student’s rights,

Article 2.1.15 states the responsibility of the students to respect the property of the
school and of others, oberve cleanliness, avoid vandalism in any form and to
respect and preserve the environment. Any violation here shall be subject to
University regulaions.

WHEREAS, Buklod Atenista recognizes the existing problem among the Xavier
University students with the use of styrofoam;

WHEREAS, urging the administration to ban the tuse of styrofoam is needed

because styrofoams are hazardous to the environment.

WHEREAS, Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan aims for a healthier environment.

WHEREFORE, be it resolved that the Xavier University Administration should

strengthen the banning of Styrofoam;

WHEREFORE, be it further resolved that the Xavier University Administrative board

should enhance collaboration with other offices and dsepartments of the university
in the enforcement of the University ID Policy;

WHEREFORE, be it finally resolved that, this resolution take effect upon approval of
2/3 of the Buklod Atenista National Congress.
