Members’ Projects in Food
Security and Agriculture
With funding from the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD),
InterAction aims to dramatically improve current efforts to gather data from the
field, generate partnerships and inform resource allocation by supporting the
display of InterAction member activities by location. Using data gathered from the
field, this web-based mapping platform will help NGOs and other actors make more
informed decisions about where to direct their resources.
Using a model similar to recovery.gov, InterAction will develop a web-based
mapping platform and database onto which, with appropriate licensing, InterAction
members will be able to upload project data, create maps, access more than 20,000
public data sets, e.g. UN and World Bank data; and create map overlays.
InterAction will work closely with our members working in food security and
agriculture to collect specific program information.
In addition, the mapping platform will provide aggregated information about the
sectors, financing of member projects, overall project spend and planned spending
on reconstruction efforts where it is available. This information will be displayed
through a variety of ways, e.g. best practices, graphs, charts, timeline, maps, etc.
The goal is to develop an effective, flexible, sustainable method of capturing
program data so that actors make more informed decisions about where to direct
their resources in other sectors.
