for a ride with every fuel price hike attributing the blame on international market. Now that the citizens getting wise, it is high time for the governments to mend their ways.
WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA are aware that as
per the prevalent rate, when the Oil Companies hike the price of fuel by Rs.1/- we at Trivandrum are made to pay Rs.1.526 (adding 52.6% of central and state taxes) and an advalorum increased sales tax levied by the State resulting in a cascading effect on the net price. Believe it not, as per Hindu report, in the recent price hike the Kerala Government got an additional revenue of Rs.250 crores in increased sales tax according to Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas Sri.Murali Deora though he kept mum on Central Governments gain in taxes.
In view of empowering the Oil Companies to
decide the citizens plight, the government should at least make a decision now, not to make their own additional contributions to the future price hikes. They should resort to taxation at fixed amount rather than percentage basis lest we are made to pay 52.6% of the price hike and additional sales tax for every hike in prices. The pity is that apart from bearing the blunt WE THE PEOPLE OF INDIA are made mute witness to the State and Central governments mudslinging that they have no contribution to the net price hike.
