PROVINCIAL FORUM on
DEINSTITUTIONALIZATION
“How to Make the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons
with Disabilities Reality in Nova Scotia – Moving Toward
No Citizen of Nova Scotia with an Intellectual Disability
Living in Institutions”

Members of the Joint People First of Canada and the Canadian Association
for Community Living National Task Force on Deinstitutionalization will be
present to share their experience with building inclusive options and their
guide to closing institutions and reclaiming a life in the community for
people with intellectual disabilities, The Right Way. Please join us to
explore strategies to ensure full inclusion for all citizens in Nova Scotia.
Self-advocates, family members, concerned community members, and
professionals are welcome and will contribute to a meaningful discussion.

There is no registration fee for this forum but registration is mandatory in


order to provide lunch and capacity will be limited to 100. We have
received funding from HRDC, Social Development Partnerships Program to
provide a number of subsidies to provide travel, meal and accommodation
funding for support assistants to accompany self-advocates to attend.
