O God, We confess our willingness to worship almost anything but
you. Our devotion is given to our work and to our play. We spend *PRAYER OF DEDICATION
lots of time pursuing idols, only to find them unsatisfying. We have
many masters, and we trade them back and forth, hoping that one *HYMN #483G “Take Time to Be Holy”
eventually will have what we need. Have mercy on us. Curb our

The Mission of the Month for September is Ministries in
Africa. The missionaries that we support in Africa
include Joanna Beske in Senegal with Pioneers, The
Newell family in Nairobi, Kenya and Denise Hoover who is
in Chad. Please keep all of these ministries in your prayers.
If you are interested in writing to one of our missionaries
please let a member of the Mission Team know and we will
give you their contact information.
Join us for a prayer time every Sunday morning in the youth
lounge before church at 9:20am. We pray for what will
happen in our worship and ask the Lord to send his Holy
Spirit upon us. Please join us in praying for revival and
renewal in our lives, our church and our land.
Disciple's Pantry in Woodstown is in need of boxed items
such as cereals, pasta, mac-n-cheese, & rice. They want
anything available in a can: veggies, fruit, baby food,
spaghetti sauce, soups etc. Dried milk is welcome but must
be in “individual” serving sizes to make distribution easier
and more equal. It has come to our attention that there is
an increased need in Woodstown and that the pantry has
depleted reserves. If you can help, feel free to give
directly to the pantry or leave your contribution in the box
marked in the narthex and we will make sure it gets there.

There will be an Old Church Committee meeting after
worship today at the front of the church.
There will be a CE meeting after Sunday School today.
There will be Children’s Church today and through out
the coming Fall. Please pray and consider whether you

narthex TODAY.
Sunday School for all ages begins today. Join us after
worship from 11:30-12:15pm. Children will congregate
downstairs in the social hall for opening assembly. One Adult
Sunday School will meet in the upstairs lounge and be
studying the Psalms while our other class will gather in the
youth lounge and be studying the Holy Spirit.
Mission Team and Congregational Life will both meet
tomorrow evening, September 20th at 7:30pm. If you would
like to join either of these committees please come out and
bring your ideas.

Annual Fall Retreat: Join us as we take some time away in
the midst of our busy schedules to renew our walk with the
Lord and our relationships with one another. Our Fall
Retreat this year is scheduled for October 22nd-24th at
the Bird-in-Hand Family Inn in Bird-in-Hand, PA. We
will be learning about the “plain” life and living with
straightforward faith in a complicated world. The final
payment of $150 per adult (less deposits paid) will be due
today. See Bob Moore to sign up and with questions.
Substitute teachers for Sunday School are needed for
the Fall. Please let the office know if you would be willing
to have your name placed on a substitute list.
The flowers this morning are given in loving memory of
George & Betty Coombs by the String family.
Save the dates:
The Annual Memorial Service in the Old Church will be held
on Sunday, September 26th beginning at 2 pm with the Salem
American Legion Band. Worship begins at 2:30 pm. Rev. Don
Polk from Aldine United Methodist Church will be our guest
speaker.
Habitat Work Day will be held on October 16th at 8:30 am.

The annual hayride will be held on October 17th , 12 noon at
the Williams’ farm. Join us for fellowship, lunch and a
bonfire! Stay tuned for a sign up sheet.
“Trunk or Treat” Hallelujah Party- Join us on Friday
evening, October 29th from 6-8 pm for our first annual
“trunk or treat”. Bring your children and their friends in
costume (nothing scary please) to walk around and get
“treats” from the trunks/beds of vehicles that will be lined
around the parking lot. We will have hot dogs, crafts and
pumpkin painting! If you could donate your time or would like
to participate please see Joe Pizzuto-Pomaco.
A Congregational Meeting will be held after worship on
November 7th for the purpose of discussing our finances.
Bible Reading Challenge
Between now and the beginning of Advent (November 28th)
everyone is encouraged to read their Bibles and pray for at
least 5-10 minutes a day, including children. At the Birthday
Party for Jesus (December 5th) prizes will be given out for
regular readers and the Sunday School class with the
average highest reading will receive a super, duper ice cream
party (your choice of flavors and toppings). Come on adults
don't let the kids show you up! There will be Bible reading
logs in the narthex.
Remember when reading your Bible to not just use the "open
and point" method, where you randomly read whatever is in
front of you. Instead take the time to decide what book you
want to read through -a gospel, a letter of Paul, an OT
narrative like Genesis and read through a little every night
or morning (whatever time of day works best for you).
Before beginning ask the Holy Spirit to help you understand
what you read, be sure to write down what questions you
have and after you are finished spend some time asking the
Lord in prayer what he wanted you to learn.
Reading the Bible daily is an important part of our walk with
the Lord. Families are encouraged to read the Bible
together and to have fun doing it!
