ABSTRACT

This project discussed about the steps on designing and modeling the production of Recombinant

Bromelain using Super Pro Designer ®. The purpose is to simulate its production in 30L.

Simulation tools can be used at any stage of process development, from initial concept, through

design, to final plant operation. These tools tackle a range of tasks, including creating process

flow diagrams, generating material and energy balances, determining equipment sizing, and

estimating capital and operating costs. Simulation equips with scheduling tools that enable the

manufacturer to maintain a dynamic model of the entire facility the evolved with time and easily

modified. The end result will increase the productivity, improved customer service, and reduce

manufacturing cost. The main source of reference to this project is the Super Pro Designer ®

User Guide. Since recombinant Bromelain is using the E.coli as a host which is similar to β-

glucosidase Design case, the example provided by the book, therefore, most of the informations

will be use to design this project.
