Chosen Industry: Automotive industry in Singapore.

Brief description of the chosen companies:

1) The company that is doing well –

Borneo Motors (Singapore)

Borneo Motors (Singapore) Pte Ltd is the leading car distributor and
exclusive dealer for Toyota, Lexus and Hino vehicles in Singapore.
Established in 1856, Borneo Motors is part of the Inchape Group of UK that is
well regarded for its prowess in motor distribution. Relationship with Toyota
Motor Corporation began in 1967.
For this project, we will be focusing only on Toyota, a Japanese brand and will
be looking into how Borneo Motors markets the Toyota brand in Singapore.
Based on statistics from the LTA website, Toyota is the market leader with
the most number of cars sold in the last decade. Toyota is also the leader in
terms of car population in Singapore with the numbers rising each year.

2) The company which is not doing as well –

Tan Chong Motor Sales Pte Ltd

Tan Chong Motor Sales Pte Ltd is part of the TCIP Group, which has
diversified business activities in manufacturing, distribution and retail. Tan
Chong Motor Sales is the exclusive distributor of Nissan and light commercial
vehicles in Singapore.
For this project, we will be focusing on Nissan, a Japanese brand, and will be
looking into how Tan Chong Motor Sales markets the Nissan brand in
Singapore.
Based on statistics from the LTA website, Nissan is not doing as well as
Toyota in terms of the number of cars sold and the total number of cars sold
in Singapore.
