Dear Parents,

Welcome back to the start of a new school year! My name is Ava. I am the ESL teacher
for year 2 and will be working with your child throughout the school year.

As I will be spending time with your child, I thought you should know a little bit about
me. I come from Canada where I have been teaching for the past 22 years. Over the
course of my teaching career I have taught all levels of ESL, the middle school years
and have been an English Chairperson for three years. In addition to my actual
teaching, I have been a presenter and lecturer for the International Reading Association
based in the United States, collaborated with Addison Wesley Publishers on a Middle
School Anthology and have lectured internationally for two years.

Like many of my colleagues I enjoy travelling and exploring new places and enjoying all
the food, culture and people associated with travel. In addition to travelling extensively
throughout North America I have enjoyed travelling throughout parts of Europe and
Hong Kong over the past few years. I am very excited to be here in Thailand and to
explore all that this wonderful country has to offer.

Finally, you should know that I not only value but, I also practice collaboration with my
peers. This begins right from the start of a new unit of inquiry, during the process of the
unit and right through to the completion and assessment of a unit. Your child’s
education is paramount and as such, cannot be rushed or artificially accelerated.
Children learn and advance in accordance to their environment, input, emotional,
physical and psychological development. As such, your child’s progress and
advancement are monitored and discussed by both myself and their homeroom teacher.
We will be happy to inform you of your child’s growth and give you our professional
opinion about their advancement on an as-needs basis.

I look forward to working with your child and you as we all work together in your child’s
education.

Yours Sincerely,

Ms Ava
