Amazon:
Amazon.com, Inc. is an American electronic commerce (e-commerce) company in Seattle, Washington.
Jeff Bezos founded Amazon.com, Inc. in 1994, and launched it online in 1995.The company began as an
online bookstore named “Cadabra.com”, Bezos renamed the company to “Amazon” after the world’s
biggest river. . On February 9 1995, the name Amazon.com was recorded in a Delaware corporation.

Apple:

Apple Inc., formerly Apple Computer, Inc., is an American multinational corporation with a focus on
designing and manufacturing consumer electronics and software products. Apple was established on April
1, 1976 by Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak and Ronald Wayne. It was the first computer company to break with
the kind of robust visual IBM. Steve Jobs decided to sell computers under the name of this fruit, in homage
to the house music of the Beatles, which was named in the same way. . In addition, Macintosh is a variety
of apple California.

Aspirin:
The syllable “Spir” indicates the presence of salicylic acid, derived from the botanical family “Spiraea.” The
acetyl brought the prefix “A” and the suffix “in” created a word that might spelled the same way in German
and English.. It happened in the year 1898.

Audi

AUDI AG, commonly known as Audi is a German automobile manufacturer which produces Audi branded
cars and SUVs. The Audi company which was founded in 1910 by August Horch, the original name was
Audiwerke GmbH. This name was based on a latin translation of Horch’s (the German word for “hark!”)
name after a naming dispute with his former company A. Horch & Cie prevented him from using his name.
Audi comes from the German translation of the name of August Horch, “Horch!” in German means “Hark!”
or “listen”, which is “Audi” in Latin.

Barbie:
Barbie is a best-selling fashion doll launched in 1959. The doll is produced by Mattel, Inc.,
Ruth Handler, watching her daughter Barbara playing with paper dolls, he discovered that it would be a
good idea to manufacture a plastic doll, for about thirty centimeters tall, representing a woman between 16
and 20 years, to that the girls could dress, combed and transform. Thus was born the famous Barbie name
comes from the name of his daughter and the doll’s design was inspired by a German doll called Bild Lilli.

Bluetooth:

The Bluetooth specifications are developed and licensed by the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG)

Bridgestone, the Japanese tyre manufacturer, began as a family business in 1931. Its founders were the
family “Ishibashi.” And the name of Brigestone comes from the English translation of the name ishibashi as
“stone bridge” with an intentional resemblance to Firestone, a company acquired by the Japanese
company.

Coca-Cola:
Coca-Cola produced by The Coca-Cola Company in Atlanta, Georgia and is often referred to simply as
Coke or (in European and American countries) as Cola or Pop
In 1886, John Styth for Atlanta Perberton US developed a non-alcoholic drink from coca leaf extract and
cola nut, which began to enjoy great popularity for its pleasant taste .
Dunkin Donuts:
Dunkin’ Donuts is an international donut and coffee retailer founded in 1950 in Quincy, Massachusetts by
William Rosenberg.

Every morning, nearly all U.S. households will repeat the same ritual at the time of breakfast: soaking (to
dunk) the bun (donuts) at the cafe. The chain Dunkin Donuts wanted to reflect on their marks precisely this
action in its name and incorporated the two key words for their establishments.

Ebay:
The most famous auction site gets its name from “East Bay”, one of the districts of San Francisco.

Google:
This search engine, designed by two students at Stanford in 1995, the name of the term in which the
mathematician Eduard Kasner defined the number 10 to 100. One followed a hundred zeros, a Googol.
However, due to an error when registering that name at the end it was registered as “Google”.

Harley Davidson:
Harley-Davidson Motor Company is an American manufacturer of motorcycles based in Milwaukee,
Wisconsin.

The Harley was born in 1903 in a workshop in Milwaukee, when in twenties William S. Harley and Arthur
Davidson built their first motorcycle. But the myth was born in the fifties: Elvis Presley and Marlon Brando
ride a Harley as a symbol of rebellious and free spirit of his generation.

Intel:
Intel born from the hand of Robert and Gordon Moore Noyle in 1968. The original name would be “Moore-
Noyce,” but in English it sounds very similar to “more noise” (more noise) is preferred by the abbreviation of
“Integrated Electronics”.

James Bond:
When Ian Fleming created this character, he chose the name of an American ornithologist which the author
admired.

Kelme:
This brand belonged to an Alicante industrial footwear, named Francisco Riquelme, who had bought the
trademark Quiles brothers, founders of the current company.The name comes from the surname.

Kleenex:
The term Kleenex comes from the English word “clean” means clean, to which he added the “K” Kimberly-
Clark and the ending “former” to point out that it was part of the family Kotex.

Kodak:
This was created under the name George Eastman, founder of the company. “I frame the same name. The
letter “K” had always been my favorite. It seems strong, incisive. It was a matter of making a large number
of combinations of letters to form words that begin or end with “K”. And the result was “KODAK”.

Lego:
Lego roots are in Denmark, where Ole Kirk Christiansen began in 1932 to build wooden items. Among the
products included are Scissor stairs, ironing boards and toys. Ole noted good prospects for the latter. He
focused on it and gave the name to his work: Lego, a combination of the Danish words “Leg godt” meaning
“play well”.

Levi’s:
Levi Strauss & Co. (LS&CO) is a privately held clothing company known worldwide for its Levi’s brand of
denim jeans. it was founded in 1853 by Levi Strauss .

Linux:
The operating system is named for its first developer, Linus Torvalds, with a change in the “s” with “x” in
honor of Unix operating system .
Lucky Strike:
Its creator, Dr. RA Patterson, his snuff associated with the California gold prospectors. Thus arose the
name of “Lucky Strike” or “lucky”.

Mafalda:
Mafalda is a comic strip written and drawn by the Argentine cartoonist Joaquín Salvador Lavado (pen name
Quino). The strip features a girl named Mafalda.he character Mafalda — whose name was inspired by
David Viñas’s novel Dar la cara — and a few others

Mercedes:
The name of these cars is from the name an eleven-year-old Viennese girl, the daughter of a lady of
Spanish origin, married to the consul general and businessman, Emil Jellinek, an avid motorsport emerging
from the early twentieth century. Consul said he asked for a major redesign to Daimler, inventor and car,
with the proposition of giving these cars the name of his daughter Mercedes.r. This name was accepted so
well that it was decided to call upon all of Daimler cars.

Motorola:
In 1928, Paul Galvin founded the Galvin Manufacturing Company to manufacture car radios, adjusting the
radio at the time, known as the Victrola. . Galvin called his Motorola radio, a fusion of the words “engine”
and “victrola”. It was in the 60s of the twentieth century when they begin to manufacture mobile phones.

Napster:
Napster was an online music file sharing service created by Shawn Fanning .The service was named
Napster after Fanning’s hair style based nickname . Its technology allowed people to easily copy and
distribute MP3 format song files among each other, bypassing the established market for such songs and
thus leading to the music industry’s accusations of massive copyright violations. Although the original
service was shut down by court order, it paved the way for decentralized peer-to-peer file-sharing
programs, which have been much harder to control.

Netscape:
Netscape Communications (formerly known as Netscape Communications Corporation and commonly
known as Netscape) is an American computer services company, best known for its web browser.
Among the general skepticism and curiosity, in March 1994 Jim Clark launched Netscape (the “Net-
Landscape,” “Landscape of the Internet”).

Nike:

Nike, Inc. is a major publicly traded sportswear and equipment supplier based in the United States. Nike,
originally known as Blue Ribbon Sports, was founded by University of Oregon track athlete Philip Knight
and his coach Bill Bowerman in January 1962. Nike is the goddess of Victory in classical Greek culture. In
1978, BRS, Inc. officially renamed itself to Nike, Inc.

Nivea:
Nivea is a large global skin- and body-care brand, owned by the German company Beiersdorf.
In 1911, the scientist Beiersdorf managed to develop the first emulsion of oil in water. Then, he added eau
de toilette, a scent of lily of the valley and a brand name infallible. .The company’s owner, Oskar Troplowitz,
named this creamy white with the name of Nivea, the Latin term nivis (snow).

Nokia:
Nokia Corporation is a Finnish multinational communications corporation, headquartered in Keilaniemi,
Espoo, a city neighbouring Finland’s capital Helsinki.
It was Born in 1865 on the banks of the river Nokia in the southwestern part of Finland near the city of
Tampere, as a company of pulp. oy. In 1963, the company developed its first radio, clear antecedent of the
mobile today. In 1990, it became a telecommunications company.

Old Spice:

Old Spice is an American brand of male grooming products.


The Old Spice brand was launched in 1934 founded by William Lighfoot Shultz, a lover of ships from the
colonial era which also had a collection of bottles like that are used in the old merchant ships to carry
spices, and whose form has taken the packaging of the brand. The ship that appears on their packaging is
The Grand Turk, built in 1781 for U.S. trade.

Panda:
Panda Security SL, formerly Panda Software, is a computer security company founded in 1990 by Panda’s
former CEO, Mikel Urizarbarrena, in the city of Bilbao, Spain.
The name of this company dedicated to developing anti virus systems come from the group of friends
started. A “bunch” of friends.

Pepsi-Cola:
Pepsi-Cola is a carbonated beverage that is produced and manufactured by PepsiCo
Caleb Bradham, a pharmacist from New Bern (North Carolina), developed the first Pepsi-Cola in 1893 by
mixing with cola nut pepsin, sugar, vanilla and various essential oils and spices. When the “beverage of
Brad” became popular in the surrounding counties, he changed the name on December 30, 1902 as Pepsi-
Cola Company.

Origin of Name:
1. Caleb Bradham bought the name “Pep Kola” from a local competitor and changed it to Pepsi-Cola.
2. The word Pepsi comes from the Greek word “pepse” (πέψη), which is a medical term, describing the
food dissolving process within one’s stomach. Dyspepsia is also a medical term describes a problem with
one’s stomach to dissolve foods properly.

Pizza Hut:
Pizza Hut is the world’s largest pizza restaurant chain based in Addison, Texas, USA.
In 1958 Dan and Frank Carney opened the first Pizza Hut in Kansas (USA). . They called Pizza Hut pizzas
and they did because the store looked like a hut .

Ray-Ban:

Ray-Ban is a manufacturer of sunglasses, founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb. The first glass-Ban Bay
was green, protected by the strong light and was added to that point it was not found in any other lens:
eliminate ultraviolet and infrared rays. These three characteristics that led to his born name: Ray-Ban, a
kind of pun that would mean in English something like “banned from the rays.”

The Ray-Ban Aviator became a well-known style of sunglasses when General Douglas MacArthur landed
on the beach in the Philippines in World War II, and photographers snapped several pictures of him
wearing them.

Red Bull:

Red Bull is an energy drink sold by Red Bull GmbH. The Austrian ,Dietrich Mateschitz Blendax, a
toothpaste company, when he visited Thailand in 1982 ,saw a Thai businessman who sold a drink (Krating
Daeng) at the pub to keep the drivers fell asleep at the wheel,developed this Red Bull Energy Drink brand.
Later he adapted the taste and flavor Europe by creating a drink that expresses power, energy, strength
and courage. Another version is that the drink contains a component called the “taurine” and hence the
name Bull (bull in Spanish).

Sony:

Sony Corporation is a multinational conglomerate corporation headquartered in Minato, Tokyo, Japan, The
company president, Akio Morita, created this name in 1955 based on the Latin word “sonus” (sound) and
the song “Sonny Boy”. They claim the word “Sony” as their own,a word that does not exist in any language.

Tampax:

Tampax is a brand of tampon from Procter & Gamble. The American Medical Earle Cleveland Haas
Colorado (United States) patented invention on November 19, 1931. When it was decided by a trademark,
registered the name of Tampax, the “buffer-vaginal pack.”P&G purchased it in the late 1990s
Toyota:

Vehicles were originally sold under the name “Toyoda” , from the family name of the company’s founder,
Kiichiro Toyoda(1936).But Risaburo Toyoda, preferred “Toyota”, was visually simpler and sounded better
with two “t”s. The newly formed word was trademarked and the company was registered in August 1937 as
the “Toyota Motor Company”.

Timberland:

The name of these prestigious boots, comes from: “Timberland, the land of Timber.”.Timber land is located
in the surrounding woods from Newmarket in New Hampshire (United States), the headquarters of the
company.

Vaseline: :

Vaseline is a brand of petroleum jelly based products owned by Anglo-Dutch company Unilever. Robert
Chesebrough, a chemist born in Brooklyn, was the creator in (1870) of the gelatin (petroleum jelly) that was
curing all the injuries. He gave the name of this invention Vaseline, derived from the German word Wasser
(water) and the Greek “elaion” (olive oil).

Yahoo!:

In April 1994, “Jerry’s Guide to the World Wide Web” was renamed “Yahoo! About that name there is still
no consensus. Jerry Yang , who has the embodied the public image of the company,and David Filo, insist
that they chose the name because they liked the word’s general definition, which comes from Gulliver’s

Zippo:

A Zippo lighter is a refillable, metal lighter manufactured by Zippo Manufacturing Company of Bradford
Pennsylvania .George G. Blaisdell founded Zippo Manufacturing Company (located in Bradford,
Pennsylvania) in 1932, and produced the first Zippo lighter in early 1933, being inspired by an Austrian
cigarette lighter of similar design,which made him world famous. It got its name because Blaisdell liked the
sound of the word “zipper” and “zippo” sounded more modern.
