Good afternoon, could I please
have a moment of silence for all
who died in the destructive
battle of World War 2………
World War 2 was a time of
death, courage and bravery.
It started in 1940 when Adolf
Hitler told Brittan the German
Army would abort their mission
to invade Poland; but they lied.
Because of their lie, war was
declared on Germany.
WW2 had three main leaders,
Joseph Starlin, Winston
Churchill, and Adolf Hitler.
Starlin the Russian leader was
born on the 21st of December
1879 in Georgia.
Churchill the British leader was
born on the 30th of November in
England. Hitler, the Nazi leader
was born on the 20th of April
1889 in Austria.
Hitler was a cruel man. He
created Hitler youths, they were
kids who fought in the war like
adults. These kids were around 13
years old. They were treated and
trained like adult soldiers.
They were not allowed to sit
unless told, and they didn’t
realise the realities of war. They
didn’t care who they hurt or even
why they were doing it.
Because WW2 was dangerous
there were very little ways to
protect yourself. But there were
options, if you were a soldier your
choices would be limited.
You could build a trench, to cover
and protect you, otherwise you
could surrender. But that wasn’t
really an option.
If you weren’t fighting you could
leave the country or build a bomb
shelter in your backyard. Most
people wanted to leave but many
couldn’t.
The problem, the planes could
easily be bombed or there
weren’t enough to leave. Many
who stayed built bomb shelters
made of tin. They were small and
half underground so when the
Nazis were bombing they couldn’t
see the shelter.
Instead, they would see the
house and bomb that. Inside the
shelter, there were usually some
of the comforts of home, beds,
draws, cookers, much of the
stuff you need to survive for a
few days, especially with a bomb
attack. As you didn’t know how
long you would be in the shelter
for.
The war ended in 1945 when
Britain beat the Nazis. What was
the fate of those three men?
Well Hitler supposedly killed
himself on the 30th of April 1945;
Starlin died on the 5th of March
1953, and Churchill died on the
24th of January 1965. However,
these deaths have not meant the
end of war, as there is, and
always will be war.
