COMKAF floods engineers with commendations

KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan (Nov. 12, 2010) – Eight members of the 579th Engineer Detachment (FEST-M) received the Commander of Kandahar Airfield (COMKAF) Commendation during a private ceremony held last night in Afghanistan.
Air Commodore Gordon Moulds, COMKAF, presented the award to the deployed FEST-M members for their hard work and dedication towards a technical engineering project completed for Kandahar Airfield.
According to the award citation, each individual researched and contributed to a technical report, which aims to prevent large areas of the airfield being lost to catastrophic flooding during the winter.
The FEST-M members’ dedication and professionalism provided the technical basis for major engineering work to take place at KAF during this fall in coordination with KAF’s Storm Water Control Structures.
Among the awardees were the following FEST-M teammates:

• Maj. Ronnie Davis, Operations Officer
• Capt. Christopher Ericson, Assistant Operations Officer
• M. Javed Ahmed, Highway Engineer
• Purvis Eldridge, Civil Engineer
