Background

There are two types of fats saturated and unsaturated fats. The saturated fats are bad fats and the
unsaturated fats are the good fats. The fat percentage of food is that you have to divide it by a
whole and multiply it by 100.

Purpose

We are doing this experiment because we need to know the process on how to find fats in food.

Materials

The materials are honey BBQ cheese doodles, acetone, a beaker, a petridish, a graduated
cylinder, and a stirrer.

Procedure

Day 1

Add food to the beaker than weigh it

Add 10ml of acetone the beaker. Stir well than let it set for one minute.

Pour acetone from the beaker onto the petridish. Repeat step 2

Allow the petridish and beaker to dry over night.

Day 2

Weigh the beaker with the food than record the weight of the beaker

After that clean the beaker

Calculate the weight difference of the beaker with food before and after
Observe and record the appearance of fat

Data

Food Weight of beaker with Weight of beaker with Amount of fat taken
