Geographic Information System is an Information System based computer

which combines between map element (geographical) and the information which is
contained inside the map. Geographic Information System (GIS) is designed to get,
process, manipulate, analyze and to show the spatial data. Until now, Geographical
Information System (GIS) has included some sectors of life, like in education sector.
In this report, writer made a web-based GIS application about the mapping of
the spreading of Senior High School in Depok City. The information which produced
from this application are the school’s name, the school’s address, the school’s
telephone number, the sub district’s name, the village’s name. Another addition of
information including the number of the population in one sub district, both total
number of the population and the number of the population between school age. With
this GIS application, writer hopes it can help user in looking for the school’s location
which is located on Depok City easier and faster. The application needs less than 3
seconds faster than the manual map to search the school’s location. This GIS
application built using ArcView and MapServer software.
