Letter of Motivation

Dear Sir/ Madam: :

I am writing to apply for the Master’s Programme in Information Systems

After completing the Master’s programme, I plan to continue my education and obtain a Ph.D. in Information System. My
objective is to become a faculty member at a leading university in my country, and to investigate and practice issues
concerned with it. Therefore I would like to gain a deeper theoretical knowledge and practical skills in this field to evaluate
myself in an educational and practical context. I believe that University of Münster is the best place for me to achieve my
career objectives.

There are three forces that drive me to the field of Information system. The first one is my profession. I have been working
as a Network Administrator in an International call center carrying out their operation in USA and UK for the last two
years. My responsibilities here are to maintain the Linux servers and networking devices. During this period I realize that
there is enough scope for research in this field (i.e. Information system). So, I want to make some contributions in the
implementation and enhancement of this field.

The second one is my interest, which has grown as I have finished studying courses namely Communication Systems
Management, Management Support Systems, Network Environment, System Analysis and Design, Project Management,
Business Management, Human Communication & Information Systems, Business Systems Development at my
undergraduation level and Distributed Database Management System, Intelligent System Engineering, Advanced Artificial
Intelligence, Computer Networks, Advanced Computer Networks, Optical Fiber Communication, Wireless and Mobile
Communication Networks, Digital Signal Processing at my graduate level. All courses, which are part of my Master’s and
Bachelors’ syllabus, have given me the idea that Information System constitutes such a vast field. I need to strive more to
acquire good skill over it. So, I decided to go further ahead.

The third one is my country i.e. Bangladesh which is a developing one and the economy of my country is mainly dependent
on agriculture. One of the ways to move my country from the developing one to the developed one is the extensive use of
Information & Communications Technology (ICT). There is now growing evidence of the role that ICT can play in
enhancing development. The government also realizes the fact and they are now more conscious about the implementation
of ICT which opens up a way to work in this field. So, they need skilled technologists in this field. I think that I shall be
able to contribute best to my country if I can gather technical knowledge and experience in this field from a better university
abroad especially because I have very little research possibilities in my country. Therefore, I am seeking higher education.

The ambitions which I have just exposed to you wouldn’t be realized without a solid theoretical background and a strong
real world experience specialized in the Information System field. I am deeply convinced that the “MSc in Information
Systems” that the Münster School of Business and Economics offers is the best way of concretizing this future because of
its international orientation. The completion of this Master’s Degree will be an excellent springboard for my future career,
and will provide me the knowledge, confidence, and contacts to realize my dreams. Furthermore, the courses and the
specialization that this program combines match perfectly my professional projects and academic expectations.

I am highly aware of the superb reputation of the University of Münster . I hope you will give me the privilege of
continuing my study at your famous university. Thank you very much for considering my request. I look forward to your
