Company Background

 Originating as a family business, 1920s, Wholesale distributor of auto parts. 1998.

 Genuine Parts/NAPA acquired Johnson Industries. Annual sales of $150M.

 11 distribution centers (DCs) (Atlanta, Dallas)

 It serve Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, West coast area of the United States.

 Three retail outlets that service more than 2,000 dealerships,

 Largest OEM auto parts distributor in Atlanta.

Challenges Faced

Critical business practices, such as invoicing, applying cash, purchasing, and paying
suppliers. Being distributed across several DCs. Purchasing from multiple DCs generated
multiple statements, requiring payment to be sent to multiple places. Creating multiple
corporate identities. Business information was managed on four different IT systems,
creating complexity. Job duties were duplicated across all 11 distribution centers,
creating inefficiencies. No support for multi-warehousing functionality, making it impossible
to fill customers’ orders from alternate.

Solution

For the solving the above problem regarding the inventory, warehouse, purchase and
sales system they took the support from the CD Group and JD EDWARDS. As a solution they
able to build the real time inventory system.
