Training Program on “Genetics, Plant Breeding and Double Haploid Breeding”

January 18th-21st, 2011

Greetings for a healthy & happy 2011. The Barwale Foundation, a nonprofit organization is planning to
conduct a four day training program on “Genetics, Plant Breeding and Double Haploid Breeding” at its
knowledge & study centre, Jalna from 18th -21st, Jan 2011.

This course is targeted at the beginners and aims to provide strong theoretical orientation. To make the
program interesting, we have included practicals (field & lab based) too. The broad contents of the course are
as follow:

Basic Principles in Plant Breeding Crop breeding strategies: cereal, pulses

Basic Principles in Genetics Basic Principles of molecular gene tics
Breeding methods in cross pollinated Molecular characterization of germplasm
crops
Breeding methods in self pollinated Application of haploids and double haploids in
crops breeding
Basic Principles in Cytogenetics Haploid production
Concepts in heterosis Cytoplasmic inheritance
Practical’s: Breeding methods in cross and self pollinated crops, molecular characterization of
germplasm and Haploid production

The course fee is Rs. 6,000/- for faculty and industry persons (exclusive travel, boarding & lodging charges). At
Rs. 2,500 , the Foundation provides a deep concession to students. We can facilitate accommodation at
reasonable rates as we have tie up with few decent hotels nearby.

We have limited seats and would encourage early registration on a FCFS basis.
