How to write a friendly letter Materials: 1. Internet 2. Smartboard 3. Voki.com (http://www.voki.com/pickup.php?scid=3253355&height=400&width=300) 4. Letter maker 5. http://www.abcya.com/friendly_letter_maker.htm Class Duration: 1 day Activities: 1. Go over each part of the friendly letter with the class (scrolling over the gray area will bring up its definition). Give examples for each section. a. What is today’s date? b. What is your address? c. Who is a friend you would write a letter to? d. What would you tell them? e. What are the ways you can sign a letter? Love, From, Sincerely, etc. f. Don’t forget to sign your letter! This is a good time to practice your cursive. 2. On their own, each student will write a friendly letter. 3. The teacher will check the letters. Once the students have corrected spelling errors, etc, they will log onto Voki.com 4. Students will make a Voki of their friends responding to their letter. Are they excited to read it? Will they write back? etc
