Abstract

Supportability Table-top Exercise (STE)

Supportability between the two armed forces has not been

tested for more than a decade (after the Last Th-US
Joint/Combined Logistics exercise ten years ago). The STE
represents a smaller scale exercise with problem-solving focus.
The exercise scenario is HA/DR, PKOs (or even (Thai) homeland
security in the future). STE leads to the development of Th-US
logistics IAs and SOPs.

The problem – solving focused STE is an economy size

exercise that requires only a small size meeting room enough
to accommodate about thirty players from logistics related
organisations and units from both armed forces.
Communications heavily rely on network and internet. Video
conference or even webcam is applicable. Players take their
time seeking solutions for each problem with no rush to beat
the time ratio like the conventional (full-blown, time-
compressed) LOGEX that assumption is always the last resort.
STE leaves the room for discussions and initiatives and of
course, the outcomes are more realistic.

STE produces lessons learned to be fixed, initiatives to be

implemented, and ideas to be expanded. Due to its scale of
economy, STE can be conducted annually or when demand
arises.
