Mi Vida--a pop-up autobiography Name________________

Your assignment is to write a short autobiography of your life so far, to

then illustrate it, and finally to use the pop-up book form in order to "publish"
your work.

Requirements:

1. In your book, you are to have 5 pop-up pages, complete with pop-up art, and at least 4
sentences per page.

2. Page 1 should deal specifically with the day you were born. What was the date? What time
were you born? Where were you born? What name were you given? Remember to stop and
think about whether you should use the preterite or the imperfect.

3. Page 2 should deal with how you looked and what you did those first few precious days of
your life. Preterite or imperfect?

4. Page 3 should deal with ages 1-5. What did you like to do? Are there some things you did
frequently? Did you to a pre-school? Who was your best friend? Watch your tenses!

5. Page 4 should deal with ages 6- last year.

6. The last page should deal with you now = the present tense.

7. Now go back and do a simple title page that has your name, title, and a nice cover.

Rubric--what I will be looking for as I grade:

1. I will grade page by page, looking at your tense choice, your grammar, your spelling. Each
sentence is worth 5 points, so each page is worth 20 points. (4sentences X 5points = 20;
20points X 5pages =100) Total Points for this section: 100

2. I will grade the art work not on talent but on effort and appropriateness to your writing. I am
looking for work that shows me you thought about your sentences and how best to illustrate
them using the pop-up format. Your are welcome to use clip art, photos, or your own art work
(easiest), and each page must have at least 2 pop-ups. Each page's art is worth 5 points, and so
is the overall look of the book, including the title page, so this section is worth 30 total points.
Be careful when you glue the pages together; take care not to glue the pop-ups closed.

Total points for the entire project: 130.
