I was born in one of the most interesting cities in Malaysia. It has a rich, colourful

At the beginning of an academic year, I have been given a new class, an 11th form. I was told that
they are at an upper-intermediate level. However, I prepared them a diagnostic test, with the
purpose of giving me and also them awareness of their skills in using grammar.

Grading scale

3 + 1,5 + 2,5 + 2 + 1 extra point from the teacher

Points are allotted as follows:

I. 3 points

0,30 points for each correct paraphrase.

II. 1,5 points

0,15 points for each correct answer given (as the student are given 4 possible answers)

III. 2,5 points

0,25 points for each sentence that was corrected.

IV. 2 points

0,20 points for each correct word put in the gaps.

Note:

Major errors will be penalized with 0,05 each

- Repeated grammatical mistakes (incorrect use of tenses and grammatical


structures, sequence of tenses)
- Important and repeated spelling mistakes that affect the sense

Minor mistakes will be penalized with 0,01 each

- Mistakes which do not affect the sense and occure only one time.
