celebrated Pongal Thiruvizha at Karunai Illam,
St. Thomas Mount, on 15th of January 2011 with
students, teachers, sisters and Reverent Father.
Sweet Pongal has been distributed to 45 students.
On the same day a mega Free Medical Consulta-
tion Camp was organized for ENT, Dental, Ortho,
Skin, Cancer disease for ladies and children. A to-
tal of more than 140 public benefited by the medi- sweets for the Public at the 123rd ward Councilor
cal camp. Ms. Jayakala’s office. A Free Eye Screening Camp
was organized there, where a total of 150 peoples
were benefited from the Eye camp.

Lions Club of Silver Pearls organized a Der- Lions Club of Chennai Silver Pearls celebrated
metology test for the inmates at Sri Arunod- the 10th charternite celebration on 20th January

tablets were distributed. This project

Gunaseli,Mahalakshmi Bharathan
and Kanthi Saravanan.

Development Toys
Cognitive Development toys were distributed
for the mentally challenged destitute children
ranging from 1 to 6 years. This project was spon-

Dignatories was done by Ln. Revathi Srinivasan
. Then came the important part of the day’s pro-
gramme “On Day Charternite Projects (50 Projects
amounting to Rs. 2,53,550/-). The programme
ended with the National Anthem.

Partition for Class Rooms Republic Day Celebration

Four huge partitions were made for Balakka
Nursery & Primary School, Gopalapuram, in
which 150 students were studying. They were
having 2 to 3 Classes in one hall which was a
great disturbance and it was difficult for children
and teachers to concentrate. The project was
sponsored by Ln. Suvarnalatha.
Republic Day was celebrated on 26th January
2011 at Narbavi Senior Citizen’s Home, Sholin-
galauur. All the inmates of the home assembled
outside for flag hoisting. The flag was hoisted by
Lions Club of Chennai Silver Pearls Ln. Malini
Kasthurirangan. Most of the club members were
presented themselves for the occasion.

collaboration with Tamil Nadu Electricity Board.

Vinod Srivastava - was born in Kanpur but
dwells in Chennai for the past 55 years. He may
be one of the witnesses for the gradual growth of
Chennai. He has traveled in Tram and had little

gels, T. Nagar, the then co-education school in
the heart of the city. He finished his graduation in
the reputed college of Chennai, Loyola College,

completion of that training programme, he
has started his own leather business in
the year 1980.

His father V.K. Srivastava, was the Direc-

tor of Small Scale Industries, Guindy. He was
known as an honest, straight forward and strict
personality. Vinod Srivastava was married to
Ms. Alka and they between them blossomed
Shalini Srivastava and Saloni. Shalini Srivas-
tava is now an employee in Standard Char-
tered Bank and was married to Nitish Varma,
who is working at Cognizant Software Limited.

sistant Manager of Redington.

A.Sivakumar, son of a former Police Offi-
cer C.S. Arumugam, Superintendent of Police,
(Who passed away during 1976 while in ser-
vice) is the Managing Director of Poppys Knit
Wear Ltd., Tirupur, a garment export company,
doing annual business to the tune of 70 million
USD.
A.Sivakumar, associated himself with the
Tamil Nadu Home Guards organization, in the
year 1982 and for the past 28 years, he is continu-
ing his services. It is an exaggeration that if it is
stated here that his contribution to the organiza-
tion cannot be narrated in words as he is involving
in the promotional activities of the organization to
the heart and soul.
He was instrumental for construction of an ex-
clusive training center at Udhagamandalam. The
Nilgiris, which imparts training for Home Guards in
Civil Defence.
He is recipient of President Medal for “Meritori-
ous Service” in Home Guards in the year 1996.
