Narrator: At present day, there was a man and his daughter who went out for a stroll at
the park. There was a tree that stood uniquely sturdy and covered with fresh-looking
Daughter: father, what’s that tree called? (looks at the tree innocently)
Father: (points at the tree) oh that one? That is a mulberry tree. Many people often
Daughter: the color of the fruit looks like hardened blood father.
Father: Yes ofcourse, you know my daughter, this tree has its story, the tragic story of
two lovers who are deeply into each other, once torn by their fate but reunited by their
death.._________________________________________________________________
Narrator: Once upon a time in the ancient days of Babylon, in the reign of Queen
Semiramis, houses are so close to each other that a wall was common for both houses.
There existed a young valiant man named Pyramus who felt in love with a lovely maiden
bound to perfection named Thisbe. They have grown up and learnt to love each other
amidst the will of their parents to stand against them. Love however cannot be
forbidden. The hole that has cracked was their only means to express themselves, their
#Pyramus: oh dark night which hides when the sun is out! Alas! Where is my beloved
Thisbe? Has she forgotten her promise to meet? And you, wall, you have separated me
from my Thisbe. Oh sweet, lovely wall. Show me the hole so I can see my beloved.
Thanks, sweet lovely wall. .. but what is this? There is no Thisbe? Oh you vile wicked
Thisbe: oh wall, how often have you heard my cries? How often have I stained you with
my tears? My cherry lips have ofthen kissed your stones.
Pyramus: (places the ears into the wall to listen) I hear a voice! Thisbe? Is that you my
Pyramus: indeed! You are Thisbe my love. I want to touch your hands. Bring them close
(both leans toward the wall with a mark of sadness in their faces)
#Guards: (notices and points at Thisbe) Thisbe’s mother must know all about this
nonsense madness!
(they went to Thisbe’s mother and told her of what they just saw. Lovers are still on the
wall)
Thisbe’s Mom: Thisbe? I can’t believe you... Enough of these Nonsense! Guards,
restrain her and cover that worthless hole right away! This foolish action must come to
an end!
Thisbe: (while restrained by the guards, struggling) let me go! Please.. mother.. I love
Thisbe’s Mom: No word from you Thisbe, you shall never see that man again!
Pyramus: (alarmed) Thisbeeee!! Bring my Thisbe back!!
Thisbe’s Mom: (not listening) guards, take her to her room and lock it at once!
(while taking Thisbe away she got the chance to go back to the wall and cried)
Pyramus: (whispered through the wall) my love, pray, let us meet at the tomb of Ninus.
(The guards got her again and grabbed her tightly this time and was sent to her room)
Narrator: The silly guards who are supposedly watching over Thisbe fell asleep and
Thisbe made her way out successfully. Forth she went to see Pyramus at their meeting
place.
#Thisbe: this is the tomb of Ninus. But where is my love? Pyramus, answer my call,
(silence)
The lion devoured the cloak to scratches but left a few when she found out of its worth.
#Pyramus: oh moon, lovely moon, thank you for the lovely moon shine. Where can
Thisbe, my love be? (saw the torn cloak) what is this? How can it be? (teary) Thisbe got
killed! That villain lion ate my fairest dame that I loved. (tears came out of his eyes, he
pulled out his sword and pushed it to the depth of his flesh) and thus I am dead! Now I
am fled. My soul is in the sky. May the moon take my flight. Now I die, die, die. (faints)
Thisbe came back to see if her beloved Pyramus made his way. Though in fear of the
lioness that almost took her life, she was decided to take the risk. And there she saw
Pyramus.
Thisbe: asleep my love? Oh Pyramus, arise! Speak! (cries now as she saw the sword
directing onwards her beloved man) the tomb must have covered your eyes, your lily
brows, your cherry nose – they are all gone. O Pyramus, tongue not a single word. Come
blade ( tooks off the sword and directs to self) and to my heart impade. And farewel to
the world for I will be with my love forever. (Thisbe ended her life with the same sword
Narrator: After that incident, months have passed and about time for the mulberry tree
to have its season to bear fruits then it came amysteriously red fruit that can be
compared to the blood of Pyramus and his beloved Thisbe which flooded and fed the
mulberry tree to its growth. The lovers that was once separated by fate was reunited by
death. _________________________________________________________________
